Dennis, Words can not console the sorrow that I know you are feeling.
I lost a friend of 7 years last year he was killed by a suspect on the Proverbial Routine Traffic Stop. We all know there is no such thing. We weren't on the same department so I had to get the real story of his death second hand and it made the process really hard on me and my buddies on different departments.
All I can say is that it never makes sense and we all mourn when one of our sisters or brothers dies. That's why I really hate it when a cop gets criticized for just being a little to over bearing when he or she is just trying to watch their six or that of their partners.
Take care and god's speed brother.
