Hey guys I am truly new to spyderco knives. I normally carry sebenzas. I was thinking of buying a para2. I was wondering if you guys can tell me if you have had problems with blade play, or problems with the lock. I want to use it for work, because I really dont want to use a 400.00 knife. any information will be helpful
thank you

Nope, no problems. Came great from factory! The compression lock holds up great. I love the knife.

Mine has no blade play, and as the lock has broken in it is working smoother and easier. It is a lot of knife for around $100. I highly recommend.

Solid knife! My only complaint is the lock! Its kind of in a weird position. might recommend a sage. If youre used to the locks on your sebs i think you might dislike the para 2's lock!

Got mine last week everything has been great. Its not my idea of a good looking knife but if you close your eyes its perfect. Just don't cut yourself with your eyes
closed. Ha

Sometimes you need to tighten the pivot/bushing screws, usually the one under the clip. I reposition the clip anyway for right front pocket carry with the blade to the edge of the pocket. Both of mine needed to be snugged up.

I prefer the Para 2 to my CRKs, primarily due to the superior ergos. It's much easier to deploy and fits the hands very securely and comfortably. And if you get one of the Sprints, the blade steel is much better.

The pivot is not as precisely machined like a Sebbie and it may need some adjustments to get it to your liking. But just about every non-CRK knives are like that. :)

I can't stand it, I need to stop checking the shipping info every 5 minutes. I am receiving my Para 2 tommorow and I really love my D2 Para 1 and can not wait for the Para 2 to arrive. But if it is anything like the Para 1 and BETTER than it will be my favorite current knife.

I just got mine last week also. Absolutely NO problems. If possible, I always add a note for the company I order from to check the knife before shipping. I hate returning things through the mail. I don't care if my knives aren't completely virgins when I get them.

I wouldn't trade my well-used S90V Para 2 for a NIB Sebenza. I think the Para 2 is simply the best production folder on the market today.

For average customer difference between S30V and *other* steels is subtle (with Spyderco and their excellent HT). Every blade steel chip/roll/etc after contact with hard particles (sand when making feather sticks/batoning, eventualy hit rocks when you cut small tree/bushings blade-to-the-ground, metal staples when cutting boxes, etc) but S30V is wide available and nothing to worry about when you get few chips on it: just resharpen, for rare blades it is not so easy :) Every blade steel must be sharpened or touched up time to time, so for this point of view I prefer steels with moderate edge retention and ease of sharpening: I prefer keeping sharpest edge with minimum maintenance task and there's S30V is the best suiting and widely available steelЖ just strop it once per week and it's ok. Of course IMHO :)

the lock up is solid ever since i got it which was about 3 months ago i use it to whittle and use it for the garden.. and carry to work every day and the lock up has been solid ever since never had to tighten it at all.... and the s30v is great i only have needed to very lightly touch it up once and it shaving sharp still

para 2 is simply ...the perfect EDC..

Yus, it is.

I just got one for the the exact same reason, as I simply didn't want to risk damaging my Sm Reg Seb that is getting more and more difficult to replace. Coupling that with the fairly hefty price tag for a Seb left me looking for a solid knife from my favourite company. My initial impressions are that the Para 2 is quite a value when you consider the materials and how well it's built. While I'd love to see it come with a bit more blade length relative to its overall length, I have no doubt it will serve me well.
