I have been looking in to getting myself a Becker blade but hadn't pulled the trigger yet. Yesterday I stopped in to a local pawn shop to see if they had any good knives. As I was looking at their poor selection two girls walked in and saw me looking at the knives and asked me if I wanted to buy their knives they were about to pawn. I did not think they were going to have anything worth buying but thought I would take a look anyway. First she pulled out a BK9 and then a BK7. As you can imagine I was pretty surprised. I offered her $50 for both the BK9 and BK7, and she excepted. Both blades are barely used at all and both came in original sheaths, oh yea and there was a BK13 in the BK9 sheath. Tell me I scored big time, or maybe just got a pretty good deal. Thanks

I think you did OK..Like as in 30 cents on the dollar compared to new.

Brand new those two knives run about $80 and $75 shipped respectively..

Are they KABAR marked knives?

Ok, 2 Questions

Were they hot?

Did you get their number?

Moose

ETA- yeah you did good on the knives

You got an awesome deal unless those are murder weapons, in which case start cliching them immediately to remove any evidence haha.

This is one reason I have always preferred to buy my knives new when I can unless it's from a buddy, you really never know how the person got them or what they used them for...probably being paranoid but you never know.

Hell of a good deal, but, pics or it didn't happen. ;)

Definitely  on the Cliching right away. Those knives should look good, you know.:D

You might want to check with the police to see if they were reported stolen. Seems a little sketchy to me. They may have been part of the hall from a burglary or she stole them from her boyfriend when she found out he was stepping out on her. Either way I think this one falls squarely in the "if it sounds too good to be true..." category.

Until I see some pics, I'm smellin' me a fish story here. ;)

I think you need tom understand more about how the law and Pawn shops operate.

Unless you have a knife with factory serial numbers or unique permanent customization or distinguishing marks along with photo documentation and proof of ownership, someone merely reporting a knife stolen is not proof crime being committed. Period.

Everyday, pawn shops take in LEGALLY OWNED GOODS and loan 20% or less of what it cost new- especially if the items are in rough looking shape or they are items that the store owner does not value highly , know the true market value on or have a ready market for locally. Such was probably the case with the Beckers in that pawn shop.

The other thing that most folks do not know is that it does a pawn shop NO GOOD to knowingly deal in stolen property. It costs them time and money in the end. Most pawn shops run the receipts everything they take in with serial numbers on a daily or weekly basis with the local PD or Sheriff's dept to compare to their hot sheets.

But as I said, unless property is serial numbered ,unique looking or there was a unimpeachable witness to the actual reported theft, it never really happened in the eyes of the law.

If you feel you overpaid, send them to me. I'll buy them for $60 plus shipping. :p

Haha thanks for all the skepticism and reassuring posts(Jim 62). I will posts pics asap. And when I get back home I will check if they are Kabar marked.

I had some chic break into my house and steal my bk7 and bk9. My rifle wasn't sighted in yet but I did manage to hit her in the leg. Did she hobble?

Jk of course. That's a score my man
