Guess I'll show some Browning love

And this is what 1800 rounds of Remington, Winchester, and Federal 22 looks like

I don't baby it, and it's been great to me.

Plus, if you stick to Browning or Ruger 22s (MK I, II, or III), there's so many accessories to them from Tactical Solutions and other companies that you can really get them just the way you want them.

On a plus side, I've found my Browning not to be picky with ammo. The P22 recomends only CCI mini mag, and I'm sure the Ruger and the Smith does too. 22 pistols, IMO, should eat the nastiest, cheapest stuff possible, because, well, it's a 22 :D

I've seen the new ruger 22, but don't know anyone who's shot one.
OTOH, add me to the ranks of those voting for a Buckmark.

...

High Standard and Colt Woodsman for the not necessarily cheap vintage choice.

Might as well throw in my personal favorite, the S&W Model 41.
This things shoots CCI SVs like the finger of God.

(Ignore the stains on the basement carpet. :D)

Beef, it looks a lot like the Walther P-22, which has been around a while. Its a proven design and has had most if any issues worked out. Why not go with the Walther over the Ruger? My P-22 has been flawless after hundreds of rounds. I haven't compared the two though. The Ruger may have a huge design advantage/improvement over the Walther... I don't know.

The Ruger has a little better trigger and the grip is a little more comfortable, however, the SR22 doesn't have a threaded barrel like the Walther.

The Walther is a good little pistol, but picky on ammo.

*cough* Buckmark *cough* :D

People say that. But I've never had an issue. I wont argue. I've definitely heard people say that.

Sorry, I've seen too many that only work on CCI Mini Mag, Stinger, and Velocitor, but if you've never had an issue and can run what you want that's great, and that's the way it should be. Then again, seems like people who run across that problem is when it's new. You said you've put hundreds of rounds through it so it's probably nice and broken in.

(Sorry Beef, had to do it...BTW, could you scoot about 6" to your left?)

Different spot today. Make it 12" to your right.

My experiences: Your hands are bigger than mine so don't get the Sig Mosquito. I couldn't get a whole magazine through it without my thumb pushing the slide lock up at least once.

Ruger is a little bit of a pain to take apart until you get the hang of it, then it is fine.

Buckmark requires you to remove a screw that attaches the sight to the top and this rail is plastic and can break. Only negative I've seen.

A short camoed guy we both know, flat wore a Walther out shooting it and loved it. This tells me it might not be the most durable long term plinker though.

I live my Ruger 22/45 with 1911 grips on it. Feels alot like your springfield and you could put on matching Busse grips.

however, the SR22 doesn't have a threaded barrel like the Walther.

Ruger is planning on releasing a threaded barrel for the SR22 within the next few months. At this point it is unclear whether it will be an option from the factory, or a part that you can install yourself.

I think I may need one of each of the new Ruger's for holster making ;)

you guys know I make holsters ?

Ruger Mark II. Readily available at just about any shop, solid design, plenty of aftermarket support, and will soldier on reliably for years and years to come. Hard to argue with that.

Unfortunatly, Ruger is like every other gun company though. They say they're coming out with something new while they're having trouple meeting current demand for products that they make. They may be planning on making a threaded barrel for their SR22 pistol, but it may not be available for 6 months or more.

Very true. Springfield keeps coming out with new XD/ XDM models but try to find a Springfield 1911. Most shops around here have had 1911s on back order for over a year and none in sight, yet you can get the newest XD models right away. If you want the SR22 I wouldn't wait just to get the threaded barrel. That may be years down the road. Just my 2 cents.

I've heard this too but after thousands of rounds through mine I've not had any issues. It will feed whatever you give her. Love the P22!

While on the subject of plinkers; does anybody use a 22lr conversion kit on their firearm? I've got my eye on a Kimber conversion kit to go on my TLE II, and am curious how well they actually run. I thought about getting the Ruger SR22 pistol from a local gun store, but when I went in they didn't have any. I asked the clerk when they anticipated getting more. I received a blank stare and a shrug of the shoulders.

Springfield 1911s, Ruger 1911s, Kimbers, are all backordered pretty bad.

Browning's 1911 22 is damn near impossible to get, I've only seen 1.

T/C is so ass backwards right now it's unbeleivable, same way with Marlin.

Got to love the gun industry.

All the Kimber 22 convesions that we've sold work 100% of the time. Accurate and flawless. We've had 0% luck with their complete 22 1911s though, but their conversions work great.

Nemo says hi.

Every time I read Ruger SR-22, I think of this SR-22.

I wish I took a current pic of it with the Ruger bx-25, 25 round mags.

It's kind of silly that Ruger names two different arms with the exact same name.

Good to hear. I like to know I'm not wasting time and money. Thanks for the info.
