My old forge reached over 2300 degrees with a coat of ITC 100, with no problem. In my new forge I used Plistix 900F because it is about 1/4 the price. The highest it will go is about 2010 to 2020 degrees. Another factor is that the new forge is about 200 c.i. bigger than the old one, so I can't be certain if the Plistix is the culprit.
I'm using two 3/4" side arm burners with a .045 nozzle at about 4 lbs. of pressure. For regular forging I run it at about 1-1/2 to 2 lbs..
Has anyone used both of these coatings, and what results did you get?
Thank you,
Bob

i'm not an expert and hopefully one will chime in here, but this is what I found.

the plistix is more like a satanite than an ITC- 100

i started out with the plistix and just found it to not want to spread very well. bought some satanite and it spread much nicer.

ITC on top of the plistix might help.

from my limited knowledge your average burner is good for around 300 cubic inches i think i read on larry zoellers web site. so the question is ...... how many cubic inches is your forge now? you say you added 200 cubic inches so what is the new total?

good luck
