Pls help with concealed weapons charge with a bali

With that weapon charge you can kiss you getting a concealed weapons permit good by. That just put him on the restricted list.

one of the many reason i said i would NOT plead no contest to any "lesser charge". seriously, i will demand a jury trial on just about anything. there is no reason why it should only be expensive and inconvenient for one side (in regards to consensual crimes)

The OP's boyfriend paid $50 for a public defender. There is a lot of truth to the old saying "you get what you pay for". Most PDs will browbeat you into copping a plea to a lesser charge, but you will still get a conviction. PDs have too many cases to deal with and cannot spend a whole lot of time providing individual counsel.

i know. i also know there's a good chance i'd lose, if i forced my PD to go to jury trial (not bench) or if i refused councel altogether and demanded my right to be judged by a jury. i also know that if i went through all that and lost (likely) they be so fired up i'd ge the max and "concealed (non firearm) weapon) in FL is a 1st degree Misd. punishable by no more than 1 yr. so... i'd end up in orange for what we call "eleven twenty nine" worst case. my point is if EVERYONE said "eff u, we're going all the way" we'd bog the system down so bad that it would become necessary to STOP making BS arrests either through changing the laws or the SAO just telling LE "i'm not pursuing ANY of these cases anymore period" which he can do.

back to his particular situation - the plea hurt his record and his wallet, the fine money would've been better spent on a real lawyer. all he accomplished was staying out of jail. it's different had he killed someone was lookin at Murder and got to plead down to Man 3 or something. but pleading down a 1st degree Misd. makes little sense. absolute WORST CASE is 1G and 11/29, i'll roll the dice.

i lost a case, once, that involved more dang oxycontin than i had seen in my whole life. the court date would get pushed back for this and that, then we get a "nolle" sheet that say - defendant's right to SPEEDY trial was violated. my point is: alot can happen when you stick to your guns, don't ever let them bully you. plz don't misunderstand, i am a LEO and i believe in accountablility and justice, but i don't believe in tyranny or intimidation.

ok, i'm dun rambling on an on lol

Years ago a sure fire way to get a lower level charge dropped was to demand a jury trial. It still holds true often, but not always.

whoa! i just realized you guys are two different people: TOM1960 and tom19176.

i guess it's like me and Zero_Time lol

Something to keep in mind about public defenders: they're getting paid by the same government that wants to imprison you.

This really shows how out of control L.E. & the court system is- damn sad...

Once Kung Tzu visited a farmer hermit who live in the mountains where there were many fierce roaming tigers.

He asked " Why do you live here among all of these man eating beasts.?"

" Because there are no oppressive officials here."
