Hey guys I have a question about my plunge line, it doesn't really exist lol. do you guys file down the plunge line before you start filing the bevel? I will post pictures tomorrow of my progress, just wondering how you guys establish your plunge

I don't know what tools you have, but a nice sharp chainsaw file does a great job of starting a plunge

i wont be grinding I am filing the whole thing. I can go purchase a chainsaw file easily so I may try that. how about do you guys go with starting the plunge

Mark on both sides with a black marker where you want your plunge lines and slowly file them in with your chainsaw file.

Then go to your Bastard file and match in the bevels. Files, Sandpaper some wooden blocks and a lot of elbow grease and you are on your way! A small drill press that goes down to about 200rpm helps drill your holes and the profile if need be in the steel.

ok awesome that all I needed to know! Messed up my first knife but im gonna finish it and start my second today. Thanks a lot!

It is also helpful to use a piece of steel to clamp along your plunge line to guard your file from evening out where the plunge is supposed to be.

Once I started doing that it became easier.
