PM 2 difficulty opening HELP!

You need to adjust BOTH pivot screws, as they sandwich the pivot bushing. My PM2 felt exactly how you describe even after adjusting the lock-side pivot screw. Backed the non-lock-side off a tiny bit and viola.

I did that one mine and its working out real good now. :-D Thanks for the tip

i think the 2nd part of the problem, one i am experiencing on my Yojimbo2 is the ball detent on the liner . i think on my Yo2 it is not installed correctly or there is a burr on something. It drags on opening so bad sometimes it feels like there is a rock for a detent not a ball bearing. The blade swings free when the lock is held in . There must be a groove getting carved into the blade and I wonder how long until the ball is worn by it.

It sounds to me like they have someone new on the detent station in Golden who doesnt know what they are doing. and its a PITA to either return to the vendor who takes 2-4weeks to do something or send to Spyderco for 2+ weeks and have them possibly say "its within spec" and return it.

I gotta say I have much better luck with the Japanese made Spyders than the Golden ones. Seems to be alot of variance in fit/finish from Golden from my experience and reading

I think I solved my problem. When I first received the knife the pivot was so tight I think I loosened the pivot screws too much. Today as I was opening/closing the knife I saw that the blade would tilt to the left side of the knife when opening. I think this tilt was causing tension on the bushing. I tightened both screws all the way down and gradually backed them off testing the opening each time and found a spot where there was no tilt in the blade and it would still open fairly easy. I'm going to try and keep the screws where they are and just open/close the knife a ton and see how it works. There is virtually no tilt in the blade now and I think the bushing system is working much better. Anyway just what I found through playing with the knife

Ok heres a wierd issue I have with my Yo2. sometimes the opening is smooth as butter. Then all of a sudden the detent ball starts dragging and it gets real rough. then it will suddenly stop being rough and be smooth again. No contaminants in there other than pocket lint on the nested liners. I put some dry lube in ther but I hate using lube on the detent it is a detent and lubing it will make it slick and less effective. so these balls are press fit into the liner. Is it somehow rolling around and one spot has a bur on it? It doesnt make sense to me
