PM 2 horizontal blade play help

Good luck arguing that point in the Benchmade forum.

Both warranties do the same thing. One up front like Spyderco being ambiguous, and one on the back end like Benchmade consistently not enforcing it's own warranty. I don't have a problem with either.

I guess I don't do what you do. So I will enjoy my spyderco's worry free.:)

Just to be clear I didn't mean for my post to be disrespectful! I have a para 2 and mini grip and enjoy both as well. Just my take on the difference between the two warranties.

First of all this is my third PM2 with blade play. Secondly I didn't modify anything! I opened up the knife due to a link I found on the forums regarding blade play on PM2's where there were burs on the clip holes which were partially underneath the washers at the pivot. I didn't find that on mine. Instead I found a bur on the corner of the pivot hole which I was able to remove. It did damage to the washers though im. Ot sure how consequential it was.

I was hoping that would have been the fix but it wasn't. I'm just dissapointed that I have to pay to ship something that should be right from the factory. Was $120 not enough to pay to expect zero blade play? I'm on my third one and no I didn't open the others. Maybe I will send it in. I may keep it, as I plan on making custom scales. I simply posted to get some help from somone who may have had a similar situation.

Thank you to those of you who posted with constructive commentary I appreciate it.

Apparently you guys missed out on this really fun thread:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1165192-spyderco-warranty-clarification

You'll see that Sal chimes in and clears up any misinformation.

To the OP, send the knife in.

Yup. As long as you didn't break the knife because of opening it they will STILL take care of you. That "fun" thread reaffirmed that all Spyderco wants to do is to have the last say in case of fraud or abuse of warranty. I have sent in a total of two knives for repair and both have been taken apart numerous times and they were still taken care of.

Thank you.

Apparently tbis has opened up a can of warranty worms. Not my intention. May the schwartz be with you.

OK two more questions. How much force do you guys use when checking for vertical play? When the PM2's break in does the lock up get better/tighter? I notice that

I will start off by saying I am not a spyderco hater, I own like 15 or something. But to the OP I feel your pain. I have owned 3 PM2 and everyone has had blade play. I have done all the tips and tricks on here, even sent one in and received a replacement from the dealer. I have come to the conclusion/in my experience this knife just has blade play. I don't think there is anything that can fix it, it is just something you will have to put up with if you want to own one. That has just been my experience.

I've had 3 Para2s, and all came with poorly adjusted pivot/stop pin screws. After much messing with all 4 screws, each knife ended up perfect.

My "user" gets carried 50% of the time, and after a year now the pivot is still perfect.

I think you guys just haven't found the "sweet spot" between the pivot and blade stop adjustments.

I think I did or am very close.
