Even if I'm carrying the manix 2 I can still make it a fidget just as easily as a pm2. In fact I think I prefer it more maybe it's just mine but the manix is smoother and opens and closes more freely with the lock back compared to the pm2.If he liked the pm2 then he liked the compression lock. The guy probably did like the rest of us and flicked the knife open and closed 1k times a day. He needs a new pm2. I say buy him another and buy him a g10 manix 2 as well. That way he gets his pm2 fidget flicker, a dose of manix 2, and you'll never have to post this question again because he'll start buying more and more on his own...
Sorry to read your Son lost his PM2. Spyderco has so many cool models, that a knife enthusiast could go nuts . I'd get him another PM2.Thanks, bloody! I love my Delica but my son isn't a fan I'll probably get him another PM2.
IMO due to its design features the PM2 has something unique to it and it can be difficult to find a good replacement
If as you said there may be something your son doesn't like much about the PM2 it can be a good thing to investigate what it is
Here are some ideas:
Poor blade/handle ratio
Too long blade
Too short blade
Thin handle profile
Compression lock
Choil reducing edge length
Not a flipper
Weird blade shape due to spydie hole
Funny how different people have different tastes. The list above is what I actually like about my PM2's. I like the long handle, blade length is perfect for me, slim profile fits well in my pocket, I hate flippers, and I love the compression lock.
