PM2 FRN Ultralight?

Apologies...I was referencing the Manix LW in my post. My LWs don’t have any liners. Which of yours have them?

Part of my concern, with no engineering experience whatsoever, if that the finicky comp lock with be more finicky with the lighter scales.
LW has small figure-8 shaped "liners" supporting the lock mechanics.

That's the first time I've heard the comp lock called "finicky"... What do you find finicky about it?

I’m looking at the Maxamet LW and can’t find any liners. The adjustment of the comp lock is finicky as far as balancing blade play and action, well known from what I’ve read/seen from others.

You can easily find reference pics of these small liners.
As far as "finicky" goes, if you call adjusting parallelism via the stop pin screws "finicky", and associate this with the lock, and not the pivot bushing system, I'm not sure what else to tell you...

Ok bruh...it’s ”finicky” compared to liner locks, frame locks, ball bearing locks, axis locks, button locks, back locks, Scorpion locks and Triad locks in my experience. Have a great night!

Id buy yet another PM2, if it becomes available in an ultra light weight version.

Not FRN but until then, here is one with less weight ;-)

Not my knife, not my pic.

Given the need for liners, the bigger advantage I’d see from the PM2 moving to FRN is the ability to produce a more contoured handle shape at modest cost per unit. I also prefer the feel of FRN to that of G-10, in my hands.

I imagine they would go FRCP for stiffness needed to not use liners in such a large handle, I know the LW Native 5 is FRN and linerless but its also smaller and proportionally much thicker.

I wonder what the pricing on a LW PM2 would look like? The Manix LW BD1 model is roughly $35 less than the G10, translating that to the PM2 it would be like $80.

I've looked and found no such pics. Please produce these easily found reference pics of the small liners.

Nevermind. I found one.

Not sure I'd call that a liner, but I see what you're saying.

I understand that it seems pedantic, but I just wanted to clarify what was being referenced when ppl talk about the LW having liners... I'm not sure I'd call them liners either (hence my use of quotes earlier), but that is the term that's been used since this knife was introduced... IIRC, Eric G was talking about them at Blade...(?)

I'd be all over a LW PM2 like my dog was on the turkey bones in my trash a few days ago. First time he ever growled at me when I took something from him! I remember a poll somewhere either here or the Spydie forum and it ended up being like 40% or more saying they'd buy a LW PM2. They way the PM2 sells, I'm sure the others that aren't sure would try it out too. I remember reading about how guys were against the LW Manix 2. It converted a lot of people. It seems to sell like gang busters so I guess people got over it.

You'd probably only need half a liner or less on one side of the handle that isn't the Comp Lock side, so yes it would be lighter. Add in the wire clip and different colors/steels and you'd have the same winner that you have with the M2. Probably more so as the PM2 is way more popular!

I'd like to see a budget line with frcp/frn and a premium with carbonfiber... Again no or very little liners. And of course the work horse line of skelotonized liners with g10

I would think that the PM2 with partial liners redesigned to mimic the Military style would reduce the weight some. Add the FRN or similar might take of a little weight. Maybe reduce the blade stock thickness too to take away a little more. However, I would think that direction would be preferred on a PM3 or Sage sized knife.

I would be intrigued by a lw pm2 with frcp handles. I would like to see this with the same blade size at a lower price compared to the g10 versions.
