a few days ago i posted that i had gotten an email from b b shop about them getting some [i think there were 8] para2 m390's in stating they were factory seconds. well after posting to try and help out some co-forum members i was worried that some profiteers would scoop them up instead of legitimate people just looking to pick one up for themselves. i guess my fears were justified because i just saw a listing on -bay for para2 m390 factory seconds for DOUBLE what the other shop was charging, and to top it off the listing said 5 available. well needless to say i no longer will be giving any more leads on knife deals. hopefully legit customers will have a better chance of finding them on their own. that way we have a better chance of keeping the vultures at bay.[ no pun intended]. thanks i just had to get that off my chest.

I just saw the same listing, and when I did, I thought of your first post. I guess we know where they went now. Oh well. I just got a NIB version from another forum member in the mail yesterday. I love it, and I got it at a fair price.

For better or for worse that's the way a free market society works..people buy and sell stuff for a profit all the time..and that applies to a lot more stuff than knives.

That sucks. I contacted BBS to buy one within 30 minutes of your post, and they had all been sold--apparently to this jerk.

I too will no longer post leads. Your post is timely because I just started a thread yesterday where people could post info on where to find PM2s. It's apparently against the rules to create such a thread, so I asked the mods to remove/lock it.

As an aside, is the release of factory seconds of the blue PM2 an indication that another production run is forthcoming, or would they have been from the last run? Just curious.

i'm assuming last run because i had emailed them earlier inquiring about 2nd run and they didn't know. i think that's why i got the email-i too managed to pick up a nib just before i got the email

But he will. In fairness, he has clearly identified them as seconds, and he has clearly stated that there is NO warranty on these.

How dare someone make a profit on some knives! That's horrible! Knife sales should be regulated so we all have access to the same makes and models for what we want to pay. I'm writing the President; maybe he can do something about this. I'm outraged!

This is frustrating to say the least.. I have a M390 PM2 I would like to pick up a user as well. Then I think I'm being a bit selfish as there are lots of folks who are yet to get their first.. And then there's this guy..

Oh and Creativeguy, not to step on any toes or get too off topic, but that's a terrible idea.

i believe they were taken off the site i think he's having trouble "turning them over" last time i checked 24 hrs. later all 5 still available. not surprising at that price!

+1

The free market always dictates price, which is determined what buyers are willing to pay given the amount of available supply in the marketplace.

In this case, there is no demand for blue PM2s at this price and the market told this seller to take a hike!

Im pretty sure all knife dealers make a profit on each knife. Everybody had equal chance to buy them and he won the right to get them. His risk it they dont sale.

WHaaaa Mommy the mean man is trying to make a profit on some knives WHAAAAaaaaaaa

Wow.

I certainly understand that scalpers will always pop up whenever there is an opportunity in any market. It goes back to supply and demand in Econ 101. I never thought I'd see so many people rush to defend it here though. No, no one is forced to pay these inflated prices, we're not talking about bread to feed your family, but I still don't find it particularly admirable.

Capitalism is all about exploiting someone else's work for profit then, while contributing nothing productive yourself..., really? Too me, it's a shame to see this happening with products from a company that clearly strives to keep costs down and bring their product to market at fair prices. I would be glad to see them raise their wholesale prices on the PM2, if it removed the incentive for people to buy as many as possible and immediately flip them in the secondary market. Of course, sprints and exclusives will always command a premium, but it's almost as bad with the standard models right now. Hopefully they will be able to increase production soon. I would much rather see these dollars flowing to Spyderco, their employees, and their legitimate distributors/dealers, than to a scalper on Ebay. I guess I'm just old-fashioned.

Disclosure: I am not even trying to buy one, just in awe at the madness.

Im with you Apophis. No one is against free market. Making a profit isn't what is annoying people here. Sal himself makes an effort to urge dealers to follow certain pricing guidelines on knives like the PM2.

Creativeguy, I know that you like to make a profit on knives firsthand. Not surprised that you are keenly participating on this thread. Go make your money on the Xchange. No need to defend it. What your doing isnt what is concerning people here.

Getting political eh? So you surely wouldnt mind the people that will attempt to hoard the Spyderco forum knife simply to flip them to forum members?
