Creativeguy, I know that you like to make a profit on knives firsthand. Not surprised that you are keenly participating on this thread. Go make your money on the Xchange. No need to defend it. What your doing isnt what is concerning people here.

I rarely make a profit here on the forums but it has happened on occasion. Usually I lose a few bucks which can be expected when you buy a knife new and sell it as LNIB or slightly used. Mostly I like to check new knives out and then end up flipping them for something different. But if I wanted to make a big profit I'd rather do it on the bay than here on the forums. Definitely wouldn't want to be perceived as one taking advantage of other forum members.

I just get tired of all of the whining. Sprints and exclusive runs are always going to be like this. It's first come first served and I don't see the problem. Apparently the retailer is happy to sell the knives to whomever shows up with the cash just as most other businesses operate. Someone is always going to take advantage and someone else is always going to miss out — that's just life. Why run people down over it?

There is nothing more American than being a profiteering asshole. Maybe you should take the complaint to British Blade Forums.

Wow.

I certainly understand that scalpers will always pop up whenever there is an opportunity in any market. It goes back to supply and demand in Econ 101. I never thought I'd see so many people rush to defend it here though. No, no one is forced to pay these inflated prices, we're not talking about bread to feed your family, but I still don't find it particularly admirable.

Capitalism is all about exploiting someone else's work for profit then, while contributing nothing productive yourself..., really? Too me, it's a shame to see this happening with products from a company that clearly strives to keep costs down and bring their product to market at fair prices. I would be glad to see them raise their wholesale prices on the PM2, if it removed the incentive for people to buy as many as possible and immediately flip them in the secondary market. Of course, sprints and exclusives will always command a premium, but it's almost as bad with the standard models right now. Hopefully they will be able to increase production soon. I would much rather see these dollars flowing to Spyderco, their employees, and their legitimate distributors/dealers, than to a scalper on Ebay. I guess I'm just old-fashioned.

Disclosure: I am not even trying to buy one, just in awe at the madness.

Getting political eh? So you surely wouldnt mind the people that will attempt to hoard the Spyderco forum knife simply to flip them to forum members?

No, actually, I would not. And even if I did, some people are going to - I guarantee it.

Three types of people: kind, nice, and nasty.
Very few are kind. Hardly recognizable when encountered in real life.
Some are plain nasty, can’t help it.
And then there is the majority, describe themselves as nice.
Don’t confuse niceness with kindness. Niceness is just the ability to be inoffensive. It’s neither here nor there.
Niceness is often performed to get something in return.
Sometimes this veers into a form of entitlement and subsequent bitterness when things don’t go our ways.
The lack of personality alone is almost socially anesthetic.
No need to be frustrated when others don't uphold our own standards.
If we truly believe in our own ways, it matters not what others do.
Now, be true and go nasty, my acquaintances.

I was with you, right up until the last line?
