PM2 or Manix 2? Law Enforcement Officer in search of on Duty EDC.

I apologize if there is already a thread on this... Every time I attempt a forum thread I get yelled at and told wrong place to post.

With that being said I do need your input regardless.

A little about me to help you choose a good knife fit.

I am a cop. I can carry autos, OTFs ex. I am a knife nut, love autos and love quality. I do not like liner or frame locks and hate tantos. I have done tons of research. I just sold my meyerco xray-18 tanto. I just sent back my Microtech troodon SE for button issues, ordered another... sloppy blade play and uneven main grinds (I know they have some blade play but this was just sloppy and no it was not supposed to have 2 different grinds). For duty use I need a knife to deploy EVERY TIME and prefer not to have a flipper! I just ordered the ZT0770cf for off duty EDC due to the fact I could not find a mini matrix anywhere! I know it is a flipper frame lock but I am trying it for off duty.

For on duty I can not come up with what I want. I need a good quality knife that opens every time with a solid lock up. With that being said I have looked at all brands make and models. I am not out sawing peoples heads off and do not need a 4+ blade. I liked the Emerson wave concept but they look a little big and I heard bad things about their quality. I am not here to bash brands or argue but the Strider PT (Love the look and solid blade) was my next look. Heard bad fit and finish and do not need a knife lopping off my fingers. I like the fact I can do the zip tie with Spydercos for fast deployment and the lock locations. I have never owned one and always thought of them as a lower end knife. Not sure why so dont bother asking. BUT i do like the lockup concept on the PM2 and manix2. I wanted a Microtech mini socom elite auto but as you know they are impossible to find anymore.

*****So... Unless you have an amazing knife I have not listed... I NEED YOUR OPINIONS ON THE PM2 AND MANIX2. I love the fact that you can choke up on the knives. I love the look of the manix2 way more than the PM2. Like the strider PT I love the fact I can choke up on the blade for fine stuff. I dont pry or abuse my knives. I carry a buck for that. I love love love the look of the Manix2. The blade shape, the handle shape the gibbing... I guess it comes down to the lock up. so anyone that has operated both please give your input.
Thank you and sorry for the novel.

I don't think you can go wrong with either, both great knives.

One that you didn't throw into the mix was the Spyderco Gayle Bradley. I got around to buying one about a month ago and am so far very impressed, using it for daily work around my yard and shop. This is a very smooth, sharp, tough, everyday blade.

Here is a good YouTube that Gayle Bradley did explaining his rational in designing this utilitarian knife. It is about the same price as the PM or Manix Xl. I like the ergonomics better on the GB though.

For a lot more money a Chris Reeve Umnumzaan is another of my favorites. Nothing fancy or special, just gets the job done with minimal fuss.

I have both, I love the PM2 width and length. It is more pocket friendly, not as wide. Great knife. But I love the manix 2 as well because of how nice it opens! The width plus thumb hole is a great combo. You'll enjoy either knife I think. PM2 would be my bet though because of the shape.

I appreciate everyones input! I hate that everyone says either are good, haha. hhmoore, I WAS attempting to be persuaded into the PM2! On almost every forum and comment ive read, the general consensus is the PM2. The price and availability support their statments as well. But i like the looks and idea of the manix2... I wanted to buy on proven performance and not just looks. So I was wanting everyone to confirm the PM2. This thread went the opposite direct (lucky for me!) which I was not expecting. With that being said, I went with Gray diamond pattern Manix 2 sprint run in CPM Cru wear. Before anyone jumps on me about the steel... I did sprint run for the weight. I have no problem with the width in my pocket due to it being the only object in that pocket. I also like a solid weight. Im not afraid to "use" it. I am not saying I couldn't "use" the PM2 by any means. Haha I always feel like someone is going to get offended regardless of what i say. Essentially the + didnt out way the - its only $170 apposed to my usual microtech purchases of 300+. I used to be a butcher and sharpened my knives constantly so I am good and proficient at it and like most knife/gun nuts I actually enjoy spending some quality time cleaning, sharpening and oiling and "fondling" my EDC equiptment. I have never owned cru wear before but the materials dont look to bad on paper if you take care of it. I wanted the all black Manny but it wasnt an option in the sprint that i could find. The lawman just isnt my style although i do like the AUS8 steel. deskil, thanks for the info! I was just putting in M2 vs PM2 and found possibly 3 pics vids and comments. The bladeforums.com at the end caused my computer to freeze haha. Glockandballs... first i would just like to say, ur name if F-ing hilarious! Secondly, im a Glock nut(s) I carry a narly customized by me G17. And C, I have 4 gerber prybars 10-76 (enroute) to my Residence as we speak. My keychain, wifes keychain and squad keychain. Im grateful for your off the wall recommendation even though i carry a full size Stanley in the trunk lol. In further news, i am currently attempting to work with hogue and wilson combat on there starlight which is a hogue EX-01 that Wilson Combat moded out with their custom starburst design G10 with the famous WC medallion . Its a B-E-A-Utiful button lock knife. Wilson doesnt pimp hogue's EX-01 Auto version or i would own it! So im attempting to get Wilson Combat to make me a starlight auto. By my talk with David at hogue, it sounds like a possibility do to numerous requests. Im super stoked about it! If enough people aka bladeforums rides hogue it could possibly make production. Check it out, i dont think any knife and gun lover could say no to $245 of sexy. Im sure its not everyones cup of T but its easy on the eyes. Its the perfect mix of both worlds with out the bang... which makes it not perfect. But close! Lol. Thanks for everyones great input. It helped me make the choice I wanted to make :) till next time.

As always sorry for the novel. I work at night and stay at home dad in the day with my 1.5 yo twin boys. Tons of spare time. At nap time that is...
