i named this thread pm2 suprise because it did just that it suprised me. Ive had it close to a year and havent carried until recently because i just reach for my cqc7 out of habbit.
Im not new to spyderco but im not as up on them as you guys probably are.
That said the ergos are very pleasent and its lite. One hand operation is great. It does every thing well. Its not the most expensive knife i have but im starting to think it may be one of the best.
It perfoms delicate task and some not so delecate task in my shop.
I dont know why this thing hasnt found its way in my pocket before but im glad it did.
Is this one of spydercos beat edc offerings? Until now ive only really had experience with the: delica, endura, manix and manix xl. Is the para1 or para3 similar to the 2?
Where could i look in the spyderco lime up to find something similar?

Is the PM2 one of Spyderco's best? I think so. But by no means is it the only good one. There are many incredible gems in Spyderco's lineup waiting for us to discover them.

I passed over all of the Spyderco flippers when they came out but I recently got a Domino and it is nothing like the knives I normally like to carry but it's been in my pocket since I received it. For something similar to the Para 2 but different, I think the Manix 2 Lightweight is great - it's very light but big and loads of cutting power.

Be careful stepping through that doorway. There's so many legit offerings and the different steel and handle options, Holy Jeebus.
But yes, I do feel like the PM 2 is one of the best. The Military and the Manix2 are excellent as well. I think I've got 7 or 8 now, the Endura 4 is the only one I wished I hadn't gotten.

I like the Manix 2 as well, and if you like light, you can get the lightweight version of the Manix 2.

same hear,i didn't carry my PM2 for the 1st year and left in the collection box, mostly liking the smaller ones' caly 3 native 5 ect.but these days its my main carry, been looking at some other steels on PM2 though as my next buy!really i have come to love this knife, even if its handle is a bit long it fits my pocket well,i always use a deep carry clip on most my folders any way,as i feel its needed on PM2.o_O

In a word : YES
It is a very satisfying work knife to use. I really enjoy the compression lock to.
Been EDCing the blurple S110V for about three weeks. Only sharpened it twice (major reprofile but that's me).
I like most of what they offer. Love the Endura 4. After owning a Manix LW I don't have much use for one. Traded it for the Endura 4 in ZDP-189. That's more my style.
yah . . . if you like the Para check out the Military. Bigger, different in some interesting ways (grip near the blade and the lock).

To get a sense of a knife closer to my grail check out the Spyderco Pattada. Only I want it in M4 not the super stain resistant N690 steel.

PS: I know you meant "best" but thinking of Jack Kerouac : BEAT = Link<<<<

By all means please forgive my typo. I will aspire to be more like you, as Im sure you have never had one. Thank you for your hard work and dedication grammer police.

Hi bud - sorry I did not mean to be correcting grammars or whatnot. I thought you view PM 2 as a beater offering of Spyderco, while I think it is more than a beater knife.

Yup, PM2 is one of Spyderco's best IMHO.

Also wondering why a spelling or typing correction is such a cause of butthurt for some people.

Or the manix2xl, my personal 2nd favorite after the military; if you want to go "heavy" that is

I was taken by surprise by my pm2 aswell after I reprofilled it to very low angle. It was already a good slicer before and I liked it enough by that time to get custom scales... now it's just a monster of a cutter.
The tip is so thin it was never meant to work hard. Now it just glides through all of my edc tasks better than delica and more joy to use. When the rotation gets to it, its a charm.

Daddy likes! What steel did they use on that one?

It's a BBS exclusive with M390. The original blue scales got paired with a DLC blade.

This one is my 'gentlemen's' folder. Looks kind of classy. Smooth scales and deep carry clip, makes it easy on the pocket.

Can't wait for Maxamet PM2 to come out! Especially since I am down to only one PM2 now. How do people live like this?!

PM2 was my first Spyderco I bought. Still my favorite.

pm2 was my first spydie, in s110v; not counting the wallyworld tenacious(which I returned) and a rust covered spydie edged endura I restored! It was like being born again--my folder flock included 12 golden made and 4 seki made within a year!

Big Golden fan here as well. At one point had 8 from CO. Down to 4, with 2 on pre-order. Also have 2 from Seki. Still waiting to try something from Taichung.

Give the Sage 5 a try if you like the compression lock and want to try something from Taichung. The Sage 5 is one of my favorite Spydies that I own.

^^ Having hard time deciding. I tried the GB2. It was a beautiful knife, but wasn't for me, so I returned it. As of today, it is between the Sage 2, Sage 5, and Mantra. But, it will have to wait until... I can't wait no more :)
