I honestly can't tell you how chaves does it. But check out gavko on YouTube he's got plenty of ano tutorial vids that will help you out. But I do believe makers use a combination of heat and Electric ano or either or. check out gavko copper etching vid super kool.Thank you both for your replies. So I know by anodizing the titanium you can get colors but is that how makers like chaves does it?
Heat's good for art knives, but the color wears off very easily when handled. At least the back bars I've heat colored did anyway.Yes mainly anodizing like frank said. Heat as well can achieve deep colors too
Is timascus different? Because they don't seem to fade and a lot of knife makers use timascus. Thank you for helping out, and replyingHeat's good for art knives, but the color wears off very easily when handled. At least the back bars I've heat colored did anyway.
Didn't think of that. My back bars have been 1084. Probably doesn't apply here.Is timascus different? Because they don't seem to fade and a lot of knife makers use timascus. Thank you for helping out, and replying
There's so much for me to learn I have no clue why the ano isn't holding up. But ano isn't for ever. Really neat vid on YouTube by randy johnson title is "how tough is anodized titanium. Puts a blued sebenza in a baggie with keys etc and shakes it up. Check it out is pretty kool.Didn't think of that. My back bars have been 1084. Probably doesn't apply here.
