Pocket clip on Junkyard Dog II...Why so W i d e ?

For me, the clip is utility. I like 'em kinda small so they're not obtrusive for my work environment.

I like the idea behind the ZT301. Big o' massive folder. Itty, bitty unassuming, black clip.

I also have to say that I'm a little partial to this idea of a big honkin folder with the little tiny clip as well.

A friend of mine really likes his JYD2, but he likes to carry tip up, so I transplanted a clip from one of his older knife for him. I am no STR, but he was happy with the result.

The clip looks to be well-placed, although IMO, it is too shiny and too narrow for the knife.

Interesting, as I'm about to order one of these big ZT mothers. I agree with some of the comments here. JYD2, cool knife, but clip too big and shiny.

When I saw the title to this post I smiled because, while I like the design of the clip when I look at the knife (in my hand, that is)... It really bothers me to have that much clip sticking out of my pocket. I also love small deep carry type clips that hide themselves a bit. I love the design of the clip and it trully fits the knife... but I just don't want it stuck to my leg all day. Here's what I want: a 5" s30V blade folder with G10 that's about 1/4" thick, weighs around 3 oz, and has a clip that disappears on any color dockers or jeans. Oh, and I'd like it to still be a wicked design element on the knife when I take pictures for the forums:)

I put the Kershaw clip from a Chive on my JYD II in the tip-up fashion. It makes the knife much, much better, IMO. he only problem is that I did not feel confident in drilling and tapping the G10 scales, and relying solely on the threads in the G10 to hold the clip. Unfortunately, the liner is cut away precisely where the clip fits. What I did was drill and tap 2 2-56 holes, and placed nuts on the backside of the screws.
