Pocket Clips

I always get worried that my knives will fall out of my pocket when i get too relaxed. I'll sit back, put my feet up and a folder will slide out. I always check for it when i get up, if i didn't, i'd have lost quite a few knives by now. So i usually prefer clips.

I recently got myself a Buck 110 and i don't much care for sheaths, so i just drop it into my front pocket, i don't mind knives without clips. I love my 110, just have to be careful i don't lose him.

I take the clips off some knives and leave them on others. The absolute worst clip, to me, is one that is so tight you push your pants off trying to get it clipped and then pull them up so tight you could sing soprano when you try to get it out of your pocket again.

You DO know that removing that clip is akin to removing the tags from a mattress!  :D
I'd prefer that you did not bring that up. I have a cousin currently serving a lengthy Federal prison sentence for doing that very thing. D@mn Sealy Posturepedic Police!! I’ll never understand why they were made a part of the Department of Homeland Security.

If you take it off, and decide it's just not right for you, put a drop of Locktite in the clip screw holes before you put them back in or they'll work themselves out. Use the blue cap Locktite because it'll hold tight to normal wear, but you can break the bond fairly easily.

Clips are fine for me and I usually carry knives with clips. If it doesn't have a clip it's either an SAK which rides in my left front pocket with my wallet or a Buck 110 in a sheath.

Lee mentioned clips that'll pull your pants off and that irritates me too. I'm EDC'ing a Camillus CUDA Heat right now and I love the knife but the clip is a bit tight. Granted I've only had the knew a few days and that should losen up some. But I forgot to wear a belt this morning... so things could have gotten a bit tricky considering... well, I won't go any further.

Clips are basically a necessary evil for me. I don't like the way they break the look and feel of a knife, but then again, the only time I lost a knife was carrying it clipless in my pocket. Lesson learned, and now one of my "support" hobbies is finding interesting sheaths.

Hi All-

Folders with clips seem easier to "index" in the hand without even looking at them. My feeling is that they also serve to provide a little bit of extra grip when using the knife. Clips don't make the knife more cumbersome, so I'm inclined to leave them attached as they came from the factory.

IF they made a nice curved (width-wise) rail-style pocket clip... that would be great, especially if it matched the curved opposite side.

Ah well. .. the lil' temp eats my pants up.

i struggled carrying a gerber FS2 for years with no clip so i find the clip very usefull myself now, for the way i carry, a neccesity really, but to each his own.........my wife carrys her knife strictly in a belt sheath, so i guess hers isnt much use though.

Some pocket clips are ok some suck , the CRK Mnandi has a well made one , some are pocket destroyers . The Spyderco Yojimbo, Gunting and L'll Temperance have absolute horror show clips !The Benchmade 630 is another horrible example .

OK, I'll admit that the CRK Mnandi clip is cool for shirt pocket carry, but it still interferes with the feel of the knife.
