pocket fixed blade edc?

What about an Izula?

As I mentioned in my OP, the izula was the first one that caught my eye, but as was pointed out to me, the stock sheath is less than ideal for pocket carry and a custom leather or kydex sheath would put it in the price range if some arguably nicer (but perhaps not better?) knives that come with quality sheaths from the get-go.

I like to carry a multitool along with a dedicated knife. Lately I carry an Izula and a Swisstool Spirit X together in a KSF Adirondack pocket sheath. I have gone through a number of pocket fixed blades, and have not stuck with any particular one for more than a couple of years. The Izula is the current one, and is a competent knife for sure, if a bit lacking in the aesthetic department.

How does the izula fit in the ksf Adirondack sheath? Do you have scales on your izula? Paracord wrap?

It has paracord on it now, but it would fit naked or with scales too. The butt of the Izula protrudes about an inch out of the sheath. It is a secure fit; tight, but not too tight. The trick is to soak the sheath with warm water and wet mold it to whatever you want to put in there.

It rides okay in the front pocket, but I like to carry it in my back pocket like a wallet.

I didn't like the pocket bowie at all, looked great in the pictures but the handle felt way to short and thick for me.
Too bad, I really wanted to like (and buy) that knife.

Nor did I. I had one for awhile, and I didn't care for the handle either. I also could not get it to take a decent edge. It got traded pretty quickly.

I also had a BRKT Mini Canadian and a Landi PSK, but neither were pointy enough for my edc tastes. They got traded too. The Izula is greatly functional, but I'd like to tart it up with some nice scales and strip that absurd truck bed liner crap off the blade.

A few of my favorite edc fix blades and their sheath. One of these is in my pocket every day.

Left to right KFU EDC with sheath by Bryan Church, PB&J Bread &Butter w/ksf pocano and leatherman micro, fiddleback forge 3finger karda and ksf sheath, bark river TUSK and fiddleback forge edc they both fit a sheath I made with holster maker j Orourke

The KFU sees the most carry time currently. Ill also add that I only wear carhart carpenter pants or my uniform pants. This style of carry would be very difficult with skinny jeans :D

I pocket carry a bhk fronteir patch knife. It is my favorite knife. Tool steel blade, decent sheath. The knife connection is where I got mine. Dale is fabulous to deal with. Fast shipping

My wife carries a pink one in a black ksf pocano. :D

I EDC my Becker Necker all the time. Convenient and comfortable.

I have been Carrying a bark river little creek for the last week and have really enjoyed it. It came with a sharpshooter sheath that was decent enough but I made my own sheath just for in my pocket. In my clothes it stays upright and is quite comfortable. It is a little more expensive than you would probably like but I like it yards more than the izula. Much more comfortable in the hand and better looking to boot. I have only carried it for a short time, but I feel this knife will be a keeper for me. Sorry for the terrible pictures :)

I used to be a folder only guy, with a few fixed blades laying around the house. But then I bought the CRKT Minimalist. With its 2 (or so) inch blade its like nothing. And it was pretty inexpensive at $22. I started off small, that's my advice :) hope this helped

I could have written this post a week ago. I am on the same journey. I was a folder only guy but thought I'd try my hand at a fixed blade. I too want front pocket carry without breaking the bank. I went with a BK14 in the original sheath but am going to add a nite ize eclipse locking clip that will stick onto the sheath, allow to put it in my pocket, and hold it secure when I withdraw my blade.

It's currently in the mail so this is just theory, but I'll post something when I get it. Hopefully it will work and meet my needs.

I've been carrying my Izula in my front right pocket these last couple days. When I fly I pack a relatively inexpensive but quality blade (ie Izula). That way if the TSA "misplaces" it somewhere other than my checked bag I won't feel like committing suicide over the loss. Mine is cord wrapped and sits very flat in the pocket. I'm using the manufacturer's sheath and haven't felt the need to upgrade to a custom sheath. It stays relatively upright, but requires minor adjustments occasionally. It's easy to find in the pocket and quick to access by thumbing the sheath off during the draw. I imagine some of the custom sheaths require minor adjustments on occasion as well, but I have no first hand experience. I'd recommend starting with the manufacturer's sheath first (no matter which knife you choose). If it doesn't work out go the custom route. IMHO you can't go wrong with the Izula for your described purpose.

I have a major lust on for that pb&j bread and butter. Where the heck can you buy one of those?

I sound like a broken record whenever this topic comes up but check the maker's market here. You will not find better fixed blade edcs than those from makers like Alan Davis, Eliot, TRC Knives and many others. And they are usually reasonably priced.

I second this, but I'd throw in a few others like TobinSmith, fishion217... AGRussel and Gillson, but the last 2 are a bit pricey.
I don't have any from Leethal Cutlery but he's got some that look like they'd fit the bill (and he's on my hit list for my next purchase)

Ive Edc'd my izula II with the stock sheath for a long, long time....shrug
