Pocket Flasks

Hi All-

It looks like all the friends of Bill W. are on this thread! Wouldn't it be easier to just purchase a bunch of "airplane bottles" of booze and then dispose of them when they're finished, provided they're small and flat enough to carry easily? It would be more sanitary and glass certainly wouldn't impart a bad taste to the alcohol.

I could see carrying something like this camping if one wanted some whiskey while sitting around the campfire, but isn't carrying a flask more trouble than it is worth from a day-to-day perspective?

I am not sure. There is the weight ratio issue, the bulk issue and the risk of breakage.

A SS flask should not be able to alter the taste of the liquid if contained for a short period of time.

I've owned a few flasks, and traveled around with them a bit. A few have actually busted on me, either from being dropped or banged around in a pack. I've found this design to be the strongest, and I'm sure that there are engineering reasons why, (think eggs and bridges).

I actually used to have one with a captive top, but I lost it. I've scoured the net looking for one, with no luck. If anyone could find one in this shape with a captive top, it's the best flask I've ever come across. (and please post a link for the rest of us)

Look up Dalvey Flask.

I have a Dalvey that was a gift from my younger brother. He got it in Scotland. It's beautifully engraved in a traditional Scotish pattern. Truely beautiful. A bit small, though. Apparently, the Scots aren't quite the drinkers they're sometimes made out to be.

i have a flask that i bought from wal-mart or somethign that came with a cheap knife and wine bottle opener and a little funnle...that i lost :( but oh well it was $10 all together and hold 6oz...its good
