Not sure what, if anything, that has to do with her choking, and she's not overweight judging from the pics of her.

Anyway, I'm glad she's okay.

Holy cow, did you guys see the picture of the knife he used?

I might've preferred the choking haha, anyone know what kind of knife that is?

HILARIOUS. TACTI-COOL KNIFE SAVES THE DAY, :D!

....And I was picturing something along the lines of a small SAK.

A trach is just putting a small slit or hole in someones windpipe. I had a pulmonologist relative explain this to me years ago. You can put a hole in someones windpipe right at the top of their chest bone and take apart a pall point pin and insert the tube in the hole to allow someone with a blocked windpipe to breath.

I am glad that they were able to help the lady out.

Cool story! Good thing there were alot of doctors around and that somebody had a knife on them...I'm just glad they didn't have to do major cutting: serrated edges leave a nasty wound. All things considered, I'm glad she's all right.

Yea; next time I need a tracheotomy remind me to start choking at a medical symposium attended by the nation's top doctors. ;)

Lucky they were top doctors who knew how to think on their feet, so to speak.

If any of you guys have stories like this, post 'em up.

I saved a punk rock girl from having her foot ripped off by an escalator when her shoelace got caught. I should have asked her to buy me dinner :D That was almost 10 years ago.

I've read another story about a woman who was strangled by an escalator when her scarf was caught in it. I believe that by the time someone with a knife was found it was to late. If memory serves, it happened in a New York City subway. I cannot find a link to the article that I read, but here is a blurb, folks in the comments mention the fact that a knife would have saved her life, but in New York apparently few people carry knives.

That's the Airlite. I've got one with a plain edge. Definitely not the first time a Beretta has saved a life ;)

2 years ago while on the way home from a night's work I came upon an SUV that was on its passenger side on a bridge. I opened the passenger side door & held it open while the driver was extracted. My knife was used to cut their seatbelt loose.

And over 10 years ago I narrowly missed being involved in a head-on collision where both drivers were under the influence. My knife was used to cut the battery cable to kill the horn & fuel pump on one vehicle while I was helping with the other.

Just read an online article about a 8 year old boy in St Petersburg FL, who was trapped in a overturned car in a canal and was only saved because somebody had a pocketknife on them to throw to the rescuer, to cut the jammed seatbelt straps to free the boy. He would have been dead if not for someone's EDC blade.

I just saw this story mentioned on TV, and they said that the doctor used a steak knife! I guess it would be too much to tell the truth and admit that a pocketknife can serve as a life-saving tool.
