They're really robust with a thickness a hair under 1/4" or so. They are full tang with a nice palm filling swell. Excellent hard use EDC:)
 
My blade is 5" dead on. 10 1/4" overall. I know Pug's was 10" overall so there might be a tad variation. Still have a 1/2" to play with if you really care about being legal.
 
Thanks Bawanna! I do have to worry about the legality if im carrying an illegal blade because im carrying some other types of iron:D Strangely enough I feel more restricted since I have a legal right to CC now. Before I didnt worry about what blade i carried. If I can conceal the blade I dont worry about it but when it becomes obvious cause I got exposed wood then I could be inviting trouble. Five inch blade is great! It does give me some room to play with. Texas measures blade length (handle to tip) and doesnt distinguish between concealed carry or open carry. Bunch of crap if ya ask me! Thanks for the info. I will get me one!

Yep Bawanna's right 10" and the blade is 5". Pretty good for a guy who tells us he does not remember much:D:D, hes just making us think he dont remember, I think its a ploy to let our guards down. And a little candy for ya Ndog to get one and go Beaver huntin.

Cant wait till the Mini Bawanna's come out then I will complete the set.

I gotta quit hanging out with you guys, your a bad influence. I'll try to take a picture of "The Wall" today and we can play what's new that bawanna's wife don't know about.

Had to take Kal Behedair? off and hang him above the wall. He looks fine there and I can see him even when the wall is closed.

I love how when HI people hear "Pocket knife" they think of 10 inch fixed blades :)

I got a Mercator k55 black cat today. It's a smart little knife! I'm having a hard time deciding if I should carry my Rough Rider or the Mercator.



Both knives are about the same length and both are solid as a rock. The blades are of around the same thickness, although the Mercator has more taper to it. The Mercator's carbon steel and made in Solingen Germany which is cool. It's light and thin and the blade is wicked sharp. On the other hand, the Rough Rider is Chinese made and stainless steel and the body is heavier and thicker than the Mercator. But the primary blade has more of a belly to it so it slices up food better and the secondary blade slices through cardboard like warm butter. Plus you can open the RR with one hand whereas you need two to open the Mercator. Hard to choose...
 
Pretty easy to make a little doodad to go on the spine of the mercators for one hand opening- mine was just spring tension but I bet you could use electrical solder and make it permanent. Just a little clip like a 1/4" tall, 1/8" wide brass staple if that helps.
 
That's not a bad idea. I'd want to shape it so it doesn't get caught in my pants but that shouldn't be too hard...
 
The Mercator is working out quite well. I love this knife, and it's the kind of love that only can be felt between a man and a piece of German steel. Does anybody have a recommendation of a more upscale Solingen folder?
