Blade steel, lock type (if it has one) and handle material aside what's your best cutting folder? I've been using my sak fieldmaster a lot and it's probably my best cutting folding knife which lead me to thinking....what are the best cutting/slicing folders out there. so what's your pocket lightsaber :D

in no particular order. Edge geometry and blade grind have a lot to do with cutting performance. FFG tends to win a lot with the only exception of my Rockstead.

YXR7 on my Rockstead Higo, framelock
S110V on my Manix 2 LW, ballbearing lock
CTS-204P on my Spyderco Southard, framelock
AUS8 on my Al Mar Eagle, lockback
154CM on my BM 746 Mini Onslaught
S30V on my Para 2
VG-10 on Endura 4 FFG

Best "cutting"?

Spyderco Matriarch...I will cut/rip/slash/tear in an incredibly effective and horrific manner.

Best "slicing"?

Any of my flat ground Spyderco knives, they are roughly 30 degree edged from the factory and when you use the Sharpmaker to get it extra sharp the slicing ability is phenomenal. A close second is the Kershaw One Ton, for a $20 knife it slices very well after being sharpened properly. The big curved belly made of 8Cr13MoV makes it possible to get extremely sharp. Unfortunately, it doesn't hold the edge long, but that's the trade off at the price.

The instant they offer this knife in black, preferably the 2XL size, my credit card is ready.

Full flat grind Spyderco Matriarch sprint run with plain edge slices with the best of them.
Every part of the blade slices like a champ.

Spyderco Military. The 4 inch FFG blade has a screaming edge. The other day I simply was trying to cut the "shrink wrap" around a case of bottled water, and ended up slicing open a couple of bottles that I thought the blade barely touched.

Benchmade Volli. I've had it for a couple of weeks now and it out-slices even my Para 2s. The cuts are smooth and consistent along the entire length of the edge. Very nice work by BM on the factory edge. Both sides of the blade had even bevels and it was ready for stropping right out of the box.

G Sakai Fieldman Trekking Tool is probably the best I own. Nice, thin, FFG, SAK-style blade in ZDP-189. Spyderco Stretch is probably second.

RIT dye may work?

On topic:
I'm impressed with how my 0600 cuts with such thick stock, the hollow ground recurve is a great slicer!

It might actually be my new Higo no Kami. The blade gets disgustingly sharp. I'm surprised at how thick the stock is but it doesn't seem to affect cutting ability too much. Then again, I've only had it for a couple of days. Guess I'll see how it holds up.
