Pocket pry bars

$6 is what you’re willing to pay for a quality USA made prybar…? 😞
300~600% for something similar to what is made overseas seems reasonable. Afterall, we aren't talking about a hand forged item from an ABS Master Bladesmith.

My handmade prybar made by a real bladesmith was $15. What is reasonable to you for a mass made production prybar made in the USA with simple machining? 2.5 times $6 for a handmade version to me is great value that the maker was happy with.

That is a great value. I guess it also depends on the material… and the maker… for example: while I think LNW prybars can be pricey, they’re titanium, USA Made, and Casey, Thomas and LNW in general are good people and help out the veteran community.

Just an FYI Countycomm is having a blowout sale on all of their steel widgy bars.
For $20 you get a grab bag assortment of 4-5 of them, all sizes curved and straight.

If someone can point me to USA or EU made similar hardened stainless prybars for ~$30 delivered for 5, please let me know.
They are a superior tool steel and not some cheap stainless, but Countycomm currently has a blowout sale going on with their widgy bars.
$20+ shipping and you get a grab bag of 4-5 of them.
You are taking a bit of a gamble on which sizes and flat vs curved you're getting, but you can get as many as 5 for under $30 shipped.
My total was $27.44.

I'm guessing a combination fixed value and the cost of tbe 4" bars factor into whether you get 4 or 5.

Correction, I guess the Countycomm pry bars are made of something called D9 tool steel which is apparently a form of 316 stainless with titanium added.
I didn't realize they thought to advertise what they're made of.

Technically yes they are stainless steel I guess, but they look and in my experience act like a typical tool steel used in proper ( not Chinese) pry bar you'll get from a tool company.

I have about 25 prybars in my shop and various tool boxes, and the steel these are made of is right on par in my experience.

UPK-T1 Rocket Tool

This is one I stumbled upon from looking at the upcoming Blade Show info in Salt Lake.

Hardened and Cryo'ed 154CM for $30 in billet form with cast being $15. Their labor day sale is still active too!
I have been using the one I bought for ~2 weeks. It has turned out to be a great option for daily carry on my keyring!

The cast one is half the cost but, the 'tool steel' version at $30 has proven to be a good value to "me" but, YMMV.

$9 @ Amazon as "RONRONS 5 Pack Mini Stainless Steel Pocket Pry Bar Crowbar Multifunction EDC Tool Survival Opener".

Pretty stout stainless steel with well finished edges so very comfortable in my hand.
I got a set that looks just like that. They are useful, but I was trying to bend up just the tip of the pocket clip on a Spyderco Dragonfly and bent the pry bar instead.

I have a couple pocket-clips myself that could double as a prybar. Personally, I find them pretty worthless because they are simply too stiff to be practical and they shred the pockets of blue jeans.

So I carry a 2-3" stainless prybar on a keychain and it works ok but I find myself using an open Leatherman as a prybar to pop frozen hoods or hubcaps or many other you shouldn't do that tasks. I just finally received my 8.25" Ti bar from countycomm with sheath. It will replace my izula at the horizontal 10 o'clock position. I may end up cutting it down to 7" as it's a bit big but they didn't offer a sheath for the 6". It disappears on the belt very well and is nice and lightweight. It doesn't have a bottle opener or nail puller but I have a multitool and a sak. It is designed to be able to put a rough edge on it with a belt sander. pictures here with a Native chief and utx-85.

This forum is worse than a drug dealer. I initially read this thread just because I was bored and wanted a laugh because I think the extra fancy expensive pocket jewelry prybars are totally stupid.

Then I see the post about a grab bag of widgy bars from county comm and I am like, I would use one of those at work ALL THE TIME.

So… grab bag of widgies inbound…

Thanks Hickory n steel Hickory n steel !!

The 8" ti eod bar is damn useful as well

I was kind of worried about the size and strength of the 8" but I'm glad I got it. I thought I was going to bend it yesterday removing a board full of nails from a pallet but it came out straight still. I did roll the fine edge on the front corner a little bit it deserved that. I was probing rust spots in a lift gate and got a little rough with it. Honestly though it took me about an hour to figure out how to wear it. I have it horizontal at 12:30 Rh pull and it doesn't get in the way at all and compared to a pocket knife it looks a little small.
