Pocket Rocket Poll

XDM all the way! I've got a snubby though. Less mechanics, won't jam and I hope I'd never need more than one let alone five.

Believe it or not I actually really like the Taurus PT145. I used to carry it in my Right Front pocket or sometimes IWB. And it's a double stack so it holds 10 +1. I miss it.

Why do you need .45acp? Me personally I like the snubbie revolvers in either .38+P or 357 Also most of the striker fire pistols have thick slides.

Why do you need .45acp?

Some people like heavy and slow. Momentum makes a difference. Also, it recoils differently. Typically, it isn't as snappy as 9mm, .357, or even .380, and in the case of the XD-s, there is less muzzle flip based on my experience.

Also most of the striker fire pistols have thick slides.

Not necessarily. The slide on the striker-fired XD-s is a mere 0.9" wide. That is similar to most 1911's (and a little narrower than some).

Adrenal dump make it all a blur.

My Smith 642 .38 is longer and taller than my Kahr PM9. In some of my pants pockets the butt of the 642 is actually visible. (I have often thought that the bigger you get the smaller they must make the pockets in pants or something) The Kahr is easier to conceal, has more rounds, easier to recover from recoil for second shot when equal powered ammo is used, and is quicker to reload than the revolver. The revolver is lighter though. I also find that autos "point" more naturally for me these days as I don't shoot full sized revolvers very much anymore.

I love this little girl Paraordinance Carry

Never shot the Kahr but have shot the XDS, it shot smooth and okay, but if you reload and collect your brass be warned it flings them 12 yards to your right.

About the biggest thing with the small subcompact 45s are their choice in feeding hollow points. They're such a steep feed that more than likely you'll need to polish your feed ramp and hood. I did that on a XDS that wouldn't reliable cycle Hornady TAPs and Hydroshocks.

Hard telling when the hell they're going to be produced, but Double Tap (Heizer), are supposedly made in .45acp and about the size of a wallet. They feel cool, but they're harder to find than a leprechaun who's riding an inbred unicorn; just mainly because they haven't been produced yet.

Double barrel .410 bore 3" chamber shotgun and/or .45 LC anyone? And, it matches the Game Warden...

But seriously...

i'm looking for the p938, having handled a friends a while back. 9mm and barely larger than the P238 in .380.

Very nice and still pocketable.

Is that a P10? I had a warthog with a match grade barrel and it was the worst shooting pistol I've ever owned! Love my P14 and would sooner part with a testy that it.

Mark that's the first I've heard about the XDs having any type of feeding issues. The XDs is next on my list if I can find one(u guys have any in stock??? Pm me) and consider that mod once I've ran some down the pipe and think it's an issue.

Spyderphreak thanks for more good info on the XDs

I love my Seecamp .380. I know its a long way from .45acp, but i carry it every day, which is something that I cannot say about any other pistol I have ever owned. I also have a S&W 342 .357 and it weighs 11 ounces unloaded. Of course, it feels like you are catching a fastball without a glove when you shoot it!

Its called a "Carry" its about the size of a Warthog but single stack. It has the LDA trigger so its not a true 1911 but it is a great shooter and the best DA trigger I have by far.

Really want to test a XDs but so far none of my friends have been able to find one (at a fair price). Just cant bring myself to spend 40% over msrp. Not yet anyway.

Yup, it happens. Last XDS we had though seemed much smoother and the feed ramp seemed to have a better polish job. Then again, it's been a while since we had one so I could be wrong if anything was different. Didn't strip it down to analyze it either.

Had to work on a PM45 yesterday. Guy said he's had it for 3 years or so, never worked right, stovepiped a lot, about every 3 rounds. Stripped it, polished the feed ramp and the top of the hood, put some Slip 2000 EWG in it, and since we don't have a round a .45 acp ball ammo we used some Magtech hollows, and bam, thing still jammed, hell, it wouldn't even go into battery. Had to get a dowl rod, put it on the front of the slide, get a hammer, and beat the slide back then had to pound the round out through the magwell because the OAL of the round wouldn't even eject from the pistol.

The round would 96% chamber but the extractor was either cut wrong or the spring is way too overkill and just prevented everything from lining up. Recoil springs were tough SOBs too. Anyway....after spening 30 minuted polishing and filing, it still has to go back to Kahr :o Things got issues

At 40% markup (over MSRP no less!!!), I can't say I blame you!!! :barf: I walked out the door with my bi-tone and a spare 7-round extended magazine for under 6 bills only about 7 months ago. :foot:

I've been away a bit lately so I'm kinda late to the party but hey, better late than never. I'm partial to pocket rockets. I carry a kahr Pm9 daily in a custom wallet style holster. It's never had a ftf or fte. Breakin was right at 200 rounds, and the gun slicked up right nice. It's never given me the first problem! I got way more out of my Lcp than I had in it & I only carried it about 6 months, but it was nice (for a .380) but I also never felt comfortable carryin' .380. Some do, I just don't. It was a great shorts or pajama pocket gun. It won't fit in a pocket, but in colder months, I carry a Colt New Agent SA @ 4oclock in a ETW owb. works fine & has never given me an issue, but I bought it used after it was sent back to Colt for a recall. I took a gamble & definitely won big! My wife carries a Sig P938. It shoots surprisingly good for such an awkward little 1911 wannabe. Breakin happens about 400 rounds, & prefers 124gr & 147 grain to 115, but shoots everything reliably now. I like it except for the weird little hook that you have to slip under the slide when you put it back together. I know, I'm splitting hairs, but it's mighty flimsy & if its not done exactly right, it's a trip back to Sig. As far as pocket goes, 45acp is gonna be hard, not impossible, but definitely out of my reach! Good luck with your search!
