referring completely to traditional knives, I was wondering how you tote your edc companions...
I guess I use a slip more than anything else.. TOday I'm toting a large stockman in a supercool custom slip case given to me by Sunnyd..

but normally when I carry smaller knives, like th barlow I toted yesterday.. i slip them in a leather eyeglass sleeve.

I usually get more than a single days wear out of a pair of jeans and alot of grit can accumulte in the pockets.. so I find a slip case to be helpful.

How do you tote?

Generaly I just toss my slippies in my pockets. However I have used a couple made up inside the pocket sheaths to carry larger pocket knives in a verticle position.

I normally carry scout pattens and SAK's specifically because I hate knives sitting in the bottom of my pocket. The bails and key rings allow me to use a belt hanger to hang the knife into my front left jeans pocket.

About the only exceptions are a couple of stockmans that sit well in my back right pocket, nestled between the side of the pocket and my wallet.

I just drop them in the pocket. A wadded up bandanna gets shoved in on top of it if I'm wearing dockers or such type pants I'm worried it may fall out. If jeans like normal. It's just dropped in. Then the bandanna gets rolled up and stuck in the pocket vertical along the outer edge, to keep the pocket knife in the inside corner of the pocket.

I just drop 'em in my pocket as well.
If its a larger knife, I carry it in my back pocket next to my wallet.

Straight into the pocket. I do this with all my slipjoints, including my KHnutbuster.

I think it's quite funny actually. Most of the forumites who hang out here love looking at well-used knives and wondering at their histories. On the other hand, a lot of us cringe at exposing our own knives to mundane things like keys and pocket change.

Pockets thankyou. I have never used a sheath/holster for a pocket knife but I can see how it would be useful. Now the slips(commonly refered to around these here parts as "knife purses") are a whole nutha subject :D....don't get me started LOL

Mostly just loose in my pockets without too much problem. I do have a belt sheath for my Case Trappers that is very comfortable and easy to use that I employ when out camping or hiking, where flashing a blade is not such a bit deal.

I have tried a slip case on one or two of my knifes for pocket carry, and generally just find them more trouble than they are worth.

I use a variety of pouches, both belt and pocket clip. Here are some I use most often, as you can see they will work with a wide variety of different size knives.

From left to right...

Small SAK clip-on, AG Russell belt, William Henry clip-on, 2 DM Bullard belt, small WH clip-on, Cold Steel belt pouch.

As you can see various sizes are needed, the AG Russell for example handles large folders like my Case Sharktooth while the small WH handles most smaller slippies.

Of course I will often just drop a Peanut or jr stockman in my pocket. I don't carry pocket change as a rule, it goes in an old Crown Royal pouch for car washes and parking meters as soon as I get it.

I know what you mean. Same here. Besides, I've signed a disclaimer form; and I'm keeping my side of the bargain (I don't want to piss off you know who.)

I use leather slip sheaths, since I just drop my knife in the bottom of my pocket.

Bottom of my left pocket most of the time for the fancy slippy and the SAK rides on a key chain or carabiner clip.

Just slip it into a pocket, no frills. If that knife can't take a beating and keep on cutting, just means it's time to pick up a new knife. :D

I don't have any large knives (biggest is Kershaw OD-1) so I just drop 'em in my front pocket.

I normally put my knife in the right front pocket or the coin pocket if it fits in there.

I use the watch pocket as well if the knife is small enough like my Case Baby Butterbean or the smaller Fight'n Roosters. Some jeans have watch pockets large enough for knives like my Taylor sharks but some brands have them so small as to be mere decoration and not very useful.

I have an Al Mar with the original pouch, but it is dangerous to keep in the watch pocket, because it will slip out if exposed. Deep in a regular pocket is ok, but sometimes it slips out there too.

For your avg. sized slippy, I just carry them in my front pocket. For oversized ones I would use a sheath. In fact I just corresponded withG2 on one for my S&M Trapper.

For me it depends on what knife I'm carrying. If it's a general use,not fancy or expensive, then it just goes into my front pocket. If it's a knife I don't want to get scratched up from other items in my pocket, then it goes into a slip first and then into my pocket. Having a knife in a slip case also seems to make it ride better in dress pants also.

Holy Sh#t.. Ya'll are freak'n nutz.. Well, mostly nutz  ;)
