Pohl Force ~ H3 Alpha Two

Hi Swedge,
good News there is a Version without Serration and Black Coating - ask for the Alpha 1 Outdoor (Recurve, Stonewashed) Group h3 has it listed in their Webshop (Difference to 2: No Glassbreaker but 4 instead of 3 possibilities for the Clip).

I´ve got the Alpha 1 - and compared to Spyderco´s Military it´s far heavier but from usage much more Robust and better Grip (Attention: It´s not the usal "Plastic" Handle- they mixed about 45% of Glas in, far more than usual and it gives a damm good Grip with dry and wet Hands)

Just a Side Story: Alpha two came out shortly after one after Dietmar Pohl got the Feedback in the European Forums that they need the Glassbreaker -> So he changed it immidiatly with the next Production Run + provided directly an refitting Kit with Glassbreaker for 13 € to refit the Alpha one. The uys has here in Europe an unmatched Reputation for incredible good Service

I can concur that the FRN used on this thing isn't the usual "plastic" type stuff. I've held a number of varieties at a recent knife show. This stuff is far different from the stuff you get on for instance Byrd knives. (Good stuff but a little lowbudget like)

If someone posts an open house specifically for the purpose of showing off their food and it tastes like crap I definitely will say something. I suspect that the zytel is cheaper then the G10.

Thats the problem... You only suspect and have very, very bad manners!
The DarkOPS comparison is to stupid for words. Did you ever hear of Dietmar Pohl in the first place? What are your experiences with 440C, Zytel scales, Pohl Force Knives in general or even DarkOPS??? If you dont like what you see, move on to the next topic, unless you have something significant to share with us.

Cheers

I dig the looks of the knife from the first time I saw it - it's right up my alley. The big turnoff for me was seeing someone post pics of the knife taken apart - the locking mechanism appeared to be very thin in the area where it actually locked and looked like a potential failure point.

Maybe that was remedied in the newer models - if you get the chance to photo during a disassembly please post pics of the locking mechanism.

Perfect bolding. Significant fact: It looks like crap to me.

Zytel - general experience good.
440C - general experience good.
Pohl Knives - None

Zytel + 440C + Pohl != >$100 knife.

Why do you continue in a vain attempt to justify the blatantly rude comment you initially made ? You would be far better off just letting it be and hopefully learning a lesson in manners , especially since your actions have led to thread drift.....

An opinion was asked for...

So I am wondering if anyone out here on this forum has got one and what your opignion is up on this particular folding knife.

So please tell me if anybody else has got one and what you think about this knife.

I gave mine...

Looks like crap to me.

If you don't like it, tough.

While we at the image level...

what makes you think so? what should be different?
BTW, who really held the knife in his hands in here?

If you limit opinions to only people who have held the knife you're not going to get many responses.

Not to mention that all things are judged on appearance and style.

True, but if one states there would be better knives for 200 dollars (which might be), I would expect an opinion that is based on more than just the apearance.

I'm holding one right now. I bought a used Alpha One over a year ago and it is built like a tank (think of the weight!^^). I don't mind the 440C, it performs quite well and takes a nice edge. The Alpha has some nice features: The pivot screw is massive and can be tightened with a simple coin, the whole construction can be taken apart and reassembled with the slotted screwdrivers you find on a Victorinox. My opinion is just based on facts and own experience, so I do apologize in advance, so please don't get mad at me...

Looks like it could be easily wave modded.

All I can say is that it's the sturdiest folder I've ever witnessed, but a bit ridiculously sized for actual pocket carry. It was quite a impulse buy for me, I don't even know why I wanted one because I usually favor traditional designs. It's too thick to cut anything like all similiar "hard use knives", but if you are looking for military folder then this would be a good choice.

Somebody should arrange a passaround for the US BF members with this knife. Thatll produce some reviews for others to read.

I think Dagon has Dietmar Pohls email adress. Im assuming he'd be willing to provide a folder for review purposes.

Unfortunately i dont live in the US, or else i'd try to arrange it.

I handled all the Pohl Force knives but don't own one.

They (alpha) are indeed very very big knives. Heavy and a very strong back lock.
I don't think there are a lot of knives that you can compare size wise.
(ER is comparable.)

I own a zt200 and a bm rukus and i think these are big folders.
These will look like dwarves if you compare them with the alpha's.

So for me the bravo would be the better choice:thumbup:.
Same strong build but a more suitable size for me en a more suitable edc type of knife.
Also cheaper for about 120 euro's (150 dollar).

I also read on a german knifeforum that Dietmar Pohl is coming out with a model called Charlie One, although i have no idea what its going to look like. Im assuming it would be smaller than the Bravo mode.

Has any european BF-members heard anything about it?
