Hey guys! Finally got out on our first backpacking trip of the season, yeahhh! Ouchhh!

Anyways, just thought I'd throw up some pictures. 10 mile loop on Saturday to Sky camp. Then 3 miles back to the car on Sunday, grab the day packs and drive up to the Thule Elk preserve. 8 mile round trip trek out to the point and back. Then stop by the elephant seal beach on our way home.

We saw plenty of flora and fauna: Elk, seals, hawks, bunnies, quail, turkey, deer, slugs.

Great place! That looks like a place that my wife might actually want to go backpacking. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! Yeah, it's a really neat place, and you can make your hikes as short or long as you want. Just plan/reserve at least 2 months ahead if you want a particular campsite...

great pics man.. i love Point Reyes... it's been a long time since i have been there...:)

Great pics! I haven't been to the Tule reserve since I was a kid. Really nice area.

Great pics! Right up in my area!

Looks a bit like what I was doing this weekend too!

Great pics ...... spring heading your way and here ...heading for winter ;-) Thanx for sharing.

Thanks for the comments guys.

where is the elk preserve?

The reserve is out on Tomales Point.

It's a 4.7 mile hike one way, but you don't necessarily have to go all the way to the end to see elk. This weekend almost all of the elk were not far from the trailhead and even off the side of the road. We only saw a handful from a distance on our hike to the point. You don't always get that lucky though, and you may have to hike all the way out there some days.

Awesome. Love the waterfall and the seal pics. Thanks for sharing. Congrats on the weight loss, how did you do it?
