Pokemon and knives

OP I think you misread the room. Most of us are pretty old.

Knives and coffee is more our speed

Maybe you can tell us why that card is your favorite?

BRO!!! Don't you know, that's the Pokemon MEP EN Mega Charizard X ex trading card!!!

This card has 360 HP and features the "Inferno X" attack, which deals 90 damage times the amount of Fire Energy cards discarded!!!

😜

I've tried to give up my early "Gotta catch'um all!" theory that I used to have when it came to knives.

Forget running a poll to see how old the members are here, this is the final test. And I need to know what the background is in the OP picture. Is that blue velvet sir?

What's Pokemon?😳
... you may not be ready for the real answer

pokemon is a masterclass of marketing genius, using barely passable writing and barely passable cartoons, they managed to cash in on the cuteness factor of 'pets', and ignite some kind of precursor to the whole gatcha economy lol - and they timed it well with the whole rise of things like hello kitty before it in terms of marketing and selling random things with logos / cute faces / etc etc

honestly surprizes me how it ever got so popular, its actually weird - I still don't understand the popularity of it

... oh, the pokeman below is called 'ceruledge' - and seems to have smatchets for each hand.... its rather ingenious right? ;p

I remember kids playing the card game when I was in school. Never got into it myself but was interesting to watch the actual game being played at lunch. I’m 40
That makes sense. I’m 45 and I would have guessed I missed the craze by about 5 years.

Wait, I actually do have one pokemon card. I got it in the spring of 2000. I had been volunteering in Baltimore on the weekends to help inner city elementary kids get up to speed on reading. At the end of the school year one of the boys gave me a Charizard card. I told him I couldn't take it as I knew he loved pokemon but his mom insisted saying that he had chosen to give me his favorite card as a way of saying thanks. So I accepted it and I know I still have it somewhere. Hope that kid turned out ok.

Now I've got to find it and post a pic.
