Pokhara Treak

...that old mad englishman Sir Ed...

Hate to be contrary, but- Edmund Hillary was a New Zealander (KIWI!) and he was only 33 when he summited. Tenzig Norgay was 39 or 40. They were part of a British Expedition at the time, though. :)

...I have to say that last pic with it draped in golden colors is just breathtaking and i've never seen it look so decievingly wonderful. Now i want to be there in that beautiful countryside, in that little Cafe, ... after dinner overlooking that Gorgeous valley view while the sun sets.

Thank you very much , Yangdu!!

But I'm still not crazy or young enough anymore to even think about climbing that sucker....LMAO!

This part I agree completely with. :D

Sorry, I'd been up all night reading federal laws and such, I'd forgotten he was a Kiwi, and i didnt mean he was an old man when he summitted, but i guess it did sound that way. I do remember clearly though, in some documentary of his life, that he detested being called "Sir Edmund" and in deference and honor to the man i prefer to call him by the name he did prefer, even if i still add the sir....lol.

And Tenzig, He was 39, ya gotta admire a man who would attempt to summit that mountain over 7 times. like i said i'm not crazy enough to try it even once.
I prefer green grass, a peaceful valley and the only thing i like ice cold is a beer. I detest cold and snow at least until my blood gets thicker.

Any of you southern forumites that want to harbor a grumpy old fart for about 7 months or so, let me know, i can bring lotsa beer and my own sharp objects.

Boomerang Restaurant probably the best of the garden and cultural show places in central lakeside Pohara, Boomerang has a large, shady garden and cultural shows nightly from 7pm.

I remember that landscape well.

Also the deep and narrow canyon cutting through town.

The river dissappearing into a hole, to emerge later out the side of a canyon.

Paddling about the lake in a duggout canoe.

Thanks for the memories, Yangdu.
