Even though I took my time I still managed to strip one stubborn T6 screw on the handle. I was trying to take it apart for the first time to clean some beach sand out and messed it up.

So, what do I do now?

I heard something about having to prove you're a LEO for them to ship it back? Or did I make that up?

Also, any info on costs? And if it's in the shop, even though it's still almost new, I might as well have it resharpened. Costs on that?

Thank you very much.

The Police is not a restricted knife. The only ones you'll have some problems with are the automatics and balisongs.

Costs should be very low. Spyderco doesn't overcharge for service. Sharpening is free. They request you give them $5 so they can ship it back.

Just send them a $5 check in the box for return shipping on the resharpening, as far in the screw last time I did that they fixed it for free.

You can always call or email them first they have great service people.

That was horrible advice! :D

Sent it in, signed for by T. Griffin on 3/16

Wait - Figured I'd get a call if there was a problem and waited patiently.

Sent an email and heard back on 4/8.

It said:
They logged my knife in on 3/27 (11 days just sitting there???)
It's been shipped and should be here soon. Awesome!!

It arrived today! It's not fixed... Still stripped screw, still sand grinding away when you open it.

A piece of paper has the following highlighted:

"Spyderco's warranty does not cover damage caused by ... disassembly."

My fault I guess.

But wth? The paper later says they do repairs for $20, I would have paid that.

Am I wrong to be a little irked that they sent it back unfixed? To expect a call before a company returns a knife to the customer still broken?

I would have expected a call or something. When I sent mine in, I got feedback from Kristi, Kelly, and Charlynn via email before anything was done. Another time, I got a call personally from Eric to discuss the problem.

Guess I'll try to fix it myself and Dremel out the the screw. Anyone know where I can order a replacement screw set?
