Police Model Changes?

My favorite Spydie by far is the Police Model. There've been rumblings for some time of a new version sometime in the future. What changes would you like to see if there ever was a Police for the new millenium?

As a southpaw, the first and most important change I'd like would be to make it lefty-friendly. The lock works fine as is, so the only change necessary would be an ambidextrous clip--preferably a four-way option. There are already some lefty Police Models out there--I have couple, but they are rare.

Next, I'd love to see it offered with acid-etching. I love the steel body--it gives the Police a comforting heft, and a slickness upon opening. However, as many have noted here, the smooth sides are not best when sweaty, or--God forbid--bloody. The acid-etching, as seen on other all-steel models, retains the slim, strong body, while providing tactical grippiness and a pleasant, post-modern esthetic.

Third, I'd adore a wave option--which would only be practical with a tip-up carry capacity. I've had STR modify one of my Police Models for a waved draw, and it's waaay cool, especially in Pikal style.

Finally, I'd want a return of the lanyard hole. Lanyards, or fobs, have their proponents--like me--and opponents. Not all my "holed" Spydies sport a fob, but the option is nice. When carried tip-up, the knife is much easier to draw, and no matter the clip mode, a fob provides extra purchase on the knife.

I've considered a change in blade steel, but I'm so content with VG-10, I like the steel as is.

Anyone else?

another fellow southpaw agrees. I sold my police strictly because it sucked carrying such a good blade cliped backwards in my pocket.

yes 4 way clips and an acid etched handle would be fantastic, and seems like an entirley lodgical update for such a classic. The lanyard hole, g10 handles, and a wave would be really tops, but not nearly as important/obvious additions.

The only changes I would like to see include: a left-hand clip option(the knife is too large to carry tip-up IMO, so a four-way clip is unnecessary), the blade slightly shortened to be just under 4", and some sort of grippy texture applied to the handle, like the aforementioned acid-etching.

I think is is a great knife but add the left hand option a little texturing and make it 4 inches even, then you have a winner.

Change nothing aside from adding more clip locations and perhaps offering it with a different scale material. That design is incredible and should not be tampered with.

Tip up isn't a problem with lockbacks unless the lock is loose, which would be defective anyway. The only time tip up is an issue is when it's a liner, frame or compression lock with a weak detent holding it closed or a very heavy blade. Even then, a proper ball detent fixes the issue.

Acid etching would be a big improvement. I lost a Police because of the slippery handle, Quality ingraving cost to much.
