Police model observations

Guess what I do for a living...

I've got a G10 flat ground police that I've had since I graduated the academy in 98. I love the thing and would carry it exclusively if it was replaceable. Since its out of production and has sentimental value I carry it only occasionally.

I've got a Manix that I love and carry most of the time.

I also have a Civilian that lives in the straps of my armor.

Also in my carry rotation is a Native 3, Endura 4, and various knives by other makers.

I've got a Gunting I don't carry. I've had a Millitary and a steel handled Endura which were both given as gifts to my partners.

My department has aprox 1200 in uniform. 90% carry a knife of some sort. Half of those are probably cheap POS. Of those who carry quality knives Spyderco and Benchmade share probably equal presence. (I also tend to rotate a couple of AFCKs and a Skirmish in and out of my pockets, sorry Sal.)

Thanks Sal for producing great working knives for working people. I assure you, they get used.

Every officer in my very small department now carries a Spyderco! Of course, it helped that I gave every one of them an FRN Native a couple of years back.:D Only two of them carried Spydercos prior to my arrival, the others carried real low end junk (100 knives for $39.95 sort of thing:barf:). But, they've got the good stuff now!

It has nothing to do with brand loyalty and all to do with quality. I followed tommyhawk and cannons posts in the spyderco forums from there first posts. Tommyhawk came to the spyderco forums looking to start trouble. Cannon joined him. Both just spew nonsense. There posts are not even worth reading.

Cannon,
First, your posts will be easier to read if you made spaces where a paragraph ends.

Second, In the town where I live, it seems a lot of cops carry Spydercos. In fact, the first Spyderco I ever saw was my buddy's SE Spyderco Police model. He is a city cop and carried it on duty. He has since switched to a Delica 3 SE in FRN.

Why do a lot of cops in one part of the nation carry Spydercos but none in FL.?

Maybe no cops in FL. carry Spydercos, so what? I don't base my opinions on what cops carry. I am not a cop so my needs in a carry knife are different than a cop's. A cop or military man might need a Strider or whatever but I don't need or want a big thick heavy knife.
