Polishing holes?

So I have two projects in front of me. Well, two that relate to this post.:D So, I have a Swamp Rat M6 that I stripped and was wondering if you guys had any tips or tricks to getting the lanyard hole polished or at least smoothed out without the benefit of power tools. I also just recently got a Gossman PSK that needs, IMO, the same treatment so any ideas are welcome. The only thing I can think of is to roll a piece of sand paper up and play that back and forth but I think I could be there forever with that idea. So any help is welcome. Thanks.

I second gluing the sandpaper onto a dowel or old drill bit. I've used carriage bolts for that myself. Then using a drill will save some elbow grease. If you can find the wooden handled Q-tips (vet supply?), you could do the same with the polish. Or cut down one of the small felt Dremel buffing wheels so it'll pass through the hole...

Mitchell makes some great products for getting into details. Abrasive cords and tapes for just about every need!

For polishing, take a length of appropriate sized leather, load it with polishing compound and strop the daylights out of it!
