I have owned every XM 18 3.5 blade style, save the hellfire, aggressor, recurve and sparrow. Up until this point, all my XMs have basically been eye candy. I have decided I want to buy one for actual edc use. My plan is to add a textured ti scale and keep it in my pocket "forever". I've narrowed it down to these 3 blades. Just wanted to see what everyone thinks. The knife will be used for "normal" edc applications. Paper, plastic, cardboard, rubber, and sometimes wood. It will not be used daily. Probably 3-5 times a week at most. It'll be a sort of "on demand" edc. The knife may periodically be used for light prying tasks. It will NEVER be abused. I realize the s35vn on the spearpoint blade may push some of you to favor one of the other two, but thats the only steel it's available in currently. I really only listed the steel types because they are inclusive for the Harpoon Spanto and no choil Slicer, but I'm not overly concerned with steel type. WHAT SAY YOU BLADEFORUMS!?

I'd say spearpoint is my favourite for a user. Tougher than the slicer grind and simpler than a spanto... that being said for some reason I sold my spearpoint and kept my spanto as my beater mainly because it is the more 'iconic' Hinderer grind.

Can everyone see the actual poll and options for voting? Just wanna make sure I set it up correctly. First time doing a poll here.

I voted for Slicer grind. I owned 2 Spanto's and 2 slicers, I just found the spanto too thick to complete many "simple" edc tasks. Where the slicer is better at the light EDC task that require cutting ability. The slicer isn't a thin or delicate tip by any means you can beat on it no question. Voted for slicer grind.

View media item 1194Pic of my Slicer. Whitty from Usamadeblade stated in another thread that we won’t see any knife runs in the near future. Hinderer will be focused on amenities to dress the knives up (scales, screws, back spacers, clips.....).

I voted spearpoint, found the slicer not to be much of a slicer myself.
The other one gets used most if I am carrying a XM

If I were going to get married to and XM 18 it'd be spanto because it's the most interesting blade he does.

I don't have a slicer, but I have a spearpoint, spanto, harp spanto, & harp tantos. My Fatty harp tanto is probably the most badass, but the 3 1/2" spearpoint is probably the best all around user of the bunch.

Out of those three, I don't believe there is a best. All are good and it depends on your preference.

I voted "slicer" because of the blade's profile and grind. I find it very useful for the everyday tasks I encounter. Both my 3.5" & my 3" are slicers now. I've had spearpoints (they're OK), spantos (didn't care for it), and skinners (blade shape too funky for my taste). Slicers are what I like and carry.
