While I do agree that the bowie definitely would make a great edc, it just never really spoke to me aesthetically once I had it in hand. I really wanted to like it.

While nothing says "Hinderer" to me more the spanto, I particularly like the bowie in the 4" XM24.

I voted Harpoon Spanto out of the 3 choices. Truthfully I like all three but lately I find myself carrying my Jurassic more than a 3.5.

You know, I wasnt super interested in the Jurassic when I first saw it, but I have to admit it's growing on me. I see you post about it a lot and I like it a little more every day

Id go with the slicer no choil. Even if blades where all same steel. I find the spanto a little thicker. I also like the xm-18 with no choil even though you don't gain much cutting edge. I find the choil getting caught when cutting certain material.

The XM 18 is a really great knife, and any of the models would make a great EDC. I lean to spear point because of strength of the tip and the choil.

I have a spear point ZT 801 which is very similar to an XM 18 titanium model and much more affordable which I also really like. So if price is important you might consider it as an alternative. But if you can swing the cost get the XM 18.

I would choose the slicer. I own a spanto xm18 3.5 but after handled a 3 slipjoint slicer i go with this last one.
I also choose this last one because the thickness is half compared to the locking one and for my cutting tasks it's unsuperable.

Come on brother!! You NEED to put that shameless enabler on ignore!!!
His darn posts have cost me too much!!
:p:D:eek:

PS.......just being facetious!

I can't totally blame my obsession for Hinderers on Whitty, but he sure didn't do anything to discourage it. Maybe someday when I'm bored, I'll line up my knives & calculate how many thousands (More like tens of thousands!) of dollars he & the likes of him have cost me.......or.......maybe I don't want to know.:)

1 spear/slicer no choil
2 spear w/ choil
3 spanto

I'm a traditionalist I guess....
