1) 18" Machete
2) Folder
3) Chef's knife (or Santoku), thin stock, I think 8" might work better for me than 9.

ETA: Oh, dream knife, lol. Wait, dream knife, or what I want next, or what I'm most excited about right now? My dream CPK is the RLC. I suppose some interpretations of 12" and 18" "machete" might excite me more.

12 inch machete has my attention. I assume it would be a lot more tolerant of abuse that the average machete.

D3V would take WAY less edge damage and have WAY better edge retention, but the average machete is damn near soft and has almost no carbide or plate martensite to speak of and is about unbreakable. It's difficult to beat that.

Haha exactly! Nate had 5 threads in September that ran through a ton of options of what we’d like to see, the thirst is REAL.

OP, if you’re looking for a CPK dream knife, get an FK2. I believe in the future these should be a standard offering that CPK has available on the site at all times, it’s that good.

This poll does not contain a choice for EDC. My choice would be for a run of EDC knives. Perhaps it could be a bit longer, 3.5" maybe, and thinner blade stock. But ANY fixed blade EDC knife from CPK would be something I want to buy, that is for sure.

This is all about having a knife in my front right pocket. Or perhaps it is carried horizontally. But it is carried every day, all day, every waking moment, even going into town. I am not in favor of a CPK folder because an EDC fixed blade would be better. I have folders that I hardly carry any more. I have 6 fixed blade EDC knives, but I think any offering from CPK would surely top them, no doubt.

I do carry the Dek1 in the right front pocket some times, but it is a little long for some pockets.

Gladius.

Further to what you said, how valuable the wear resistance is to a machete? Edge deformation resistance is indeed valuable and as you suggested it is difficult to beat a simple 10X series steel in that unless you bring the hardness up to 58-59 and prevent the edge roll which is common on soft machetes? If you have time to work the heat treatment out of CPM 1V (if you want to stick to CPM range) or 8670, they would be good candidates for this application. Working on CPM1V would pay off in long run as I think it might be valuable for larger chopping oriented knives.
