I would LOVE to see a Tenacious made in Golden, Colorado. I would love to see one with a bit thicker blade but with full flat grind still and either S30V or S90V. Could be a frame lock but the way Spyderco does liner locks is perfect.

Mmmmmmmm.....that would be tasty.

I agree, it wouldn't even need to be a frame lock. I mean a frame lock would sweeten the deal, but I would be happy with a handle material, blade upgrade. S90v would be fantastic.

I'd love to see a Sprint Run of one or something, but I doubt that we'll see it inside of 3-4 years.

I hope your right, I'm not buying any knives for the next 3 years. If they do it after three years, when I am buying, I would probably get two.

I don't want a higher prized Tenacious, I want a Persistence!! Price is a big factor and a regular Tenacious already sells at around 65 USD back here in good ol' Europe, so if a new upgraded Tenacious gets a MSRP of 110-150$ I'm out.

The initial Tenacious is a folder designed to fit the needs of those looking for a great EDC at a very good price point. The second run of Tenacious could fit the market niche of those who own a Tenacious and have either become an afficianado of the design, or are the more upscale Spyderco buyer and user that prefers US manufacture and the excellent S30V steel and perhaps something like grippy carbon fiber.

Either incarnation would be great, the current Tenacious is a gem of a Spyderco at a Byrd line price point.

Doing a sprint run for the Tenacious affis, if there appears to be a large enough interest may be an option for Spyderco. But as mentioned in my post, it will end up competing with popular designs like the Millie, Para and Cally 3. You do have a point however. The Endura/Delica got upgraded to ffg & G-10 and I think those are doing pretty good.

That gets a +1 with me.

I thought for sure someone was going to tell me exactly which Spyderco knife a Tenacious II was going harm. It seems the various Spydie models develop pretty loyal followings.

I probably would buy an upgraded Tenacious, but it would depend on the price. The goal of the tenacious is to be affordable for anyone, plenty of other models already take care of the nice more expensive side of things.

The Tenacious is nice but once you get into the range that a USA-made Tenacious would cost there are so many folders I would rather have. Like a Military or the replacement for the Manix.

OK, I'll play devil's advocate;

1. Two sets of tooling for the same model is not a wise business decision.

2. A USA made model would not create enough sales to offset the diluting of the current Tenacious sales.

3. The USA Tenacious would have to displace another planned USA model.

4. The Chinese maker for the Tenacious is a very good maker that will in time learn to use better steels as they are developed in China. We are always pushing to develop better blade steels.

5. The Persistence is already being developed as a "kindred spirit" to the Tenacious.

Sal,

That sounds like an Emphatic NO.
Good enough...tell us about the Persistence if you can/don't mind?

Why not just buy a Para Millie?

Right? A USA made Tenacious would undoubtedly cost about about the same MSRP as any of the Colorado-made G-10 handled Spyderco's.

The allure of the Tenacious is that it's a great everyday folder with fantastic fit-and-finish for the price. Making it in the USA would just make the price skyrocket. For what it is, take it or leave it.
