Do you like fall shut action a la Norseman, Koenig or Shiro? i do. But sometimes, it is kinda dangerous imho. I chopped my middle finger 3 times and my pinky once just by closing my Manix 2 (yes...) and my Norseman. What do you think?

If you mean a bias towards closure, yes I like it. That way I know that the knife won't inadvertently open while folded in my pocket! It also protects or is supposed to protect me legally in California by exempting my folding knife from being classified as a switchblade.

I prefer "hydraulic" action. Not an unresisted drop shut, but the controlled closing of the blade with nothing more than gravity - you can still sense the detent but no effort is required to close the blade.

This is what I've experienced with the Koenig Arius and Shiro knives

I am indifferent to it as long as the knife is otherwise soundly made.

I guess a lot of people see it as a benchmark of quality however, since every knife I put up for sale elicits that question. I've lost sales on washer pivot knives because they weren't "drop-shutty" enough.

I prefer not; ideally for me a flipper will open hard every time but will have enough resistance to need a wiggle or two to fall shut. Some of my favorite knives are free fallers, though, so it's not a deal breaker (e.g. my Jason Clark custom, CKF Milk, Seraphim Korsar, etc.).

No. After releasing the lock I want to give it a little shake before it closes. This way I am aware that it will close and my finger are out of the way.

I voted "sometimes" . Nice to have a few . Just for variety !

But , yes they will bite .

Not for nothing, but if you are getting bitten while closing a Manix 2... You are doing it wrong.

Regarding the whole drop shut? It all depends on the type of knife, it's size, lock mechanism, and how well it was built.
I dialed the pivot so it would be completely be free falling when i pull the ball cage back to close it. But yea, when i fidgeted with it, i managed to cut myself. We only live once and learn it by the hard way, right? ;)
