I'm working with a company that I won't name because I can't yet testing their new designs for knife sharpeners and also providing feedback and also idea's to improve the sharpeners they are currently developing.
The owner of the company has only used cheap sharpeners from China and no TSProf or Hapstone stuff or anything like but he understands the importance that the sharpener has to hold a consistent angle when sharpening which is good.
One of the main feature he wants to add to the sharpener is a quickly removable crossbar that will come off nothing like the TSProf K4's crossbar and his will be a complex design and hard to make as well.
I asked the owner of the company you mentioned you wanted to sell microscopes for as an added accessory,I asked the owner of the company do want to the crossbar to come off fast so that you can inspect the edge with a microscope between grits and he said the main reason is to test for sharpeness while sharpening.
I told the owner of the company that 99% or less of the people who own a guided knife sharpener do not own a microscope for checking the edge only and that more people own a Bess Sharpness Tester and still it's nt that many people that own them.
One of the problems I'm having is that the owner is very open to suggestions and changes on stuff, but I think the quick remove crossbar idea is one of his idea's and the problem is sometimes when we have an idea and no matter how many times were told no it's not that great of an idea we just can't see the forest for the tree's until we have been there and done that.
I'm saying making a removable crossbar is a bad idea his way of wanting to do it isn't as simple as just taking off a single nut like the TSProf K4's design and with his design there's more room to build in error and other problems.
