I've been lurking here for more than 2 years, but I never dreamed that I would ever have the money to own one of these khukuris. It took me a year to save up for a $100 khukuri from KHHI, but I always wanted a HI one. I've had it pretty rough, I've been homeless a couple of times and I'm not a very lucky person, however on a whim knowing that I had no money this Christmas I decided to buy a lottery ticket while picking up a drink from the store, and won $12,000, I've never had more than maybe 400 euros in my bank at once. I instantly bought a khukuri from here, and then a second one once I saw the Chainpuri. I'm going to be using the rest of the money to get me back into college since I dropped out last time and never thought I would be able to go back due to financial reasons and personal issues. But now I have a fantastic opportunity ahead of me. This place is more than just where we talk about khukuris, this place is like a temple to me, seeing the forumites all chipping in money to give the kami's and poor people of their villages a nice Christmas, seeing people spend a lot of time making threads to help us maintain our khukuris, giving helpful advice to newcomers etc. it's all one big family, and I couldn't be more happier now that I officially own a HI khukuri and am a part of this community. The way that Auntie Yangdu and Bill ran this company so far has been nothing if not worthy of total and absolute respect, she sent out free miniature khukuris this Christmas to people, just because, she wrote me a Christmas card that came with my khukuri, she's never sold out and has always looked to provide a great quality product at a fair price while also looking after the kami's. I feel like it's fate that I won that money, but I don't think anyone should buy lottery tickets, it's a waste of money, I just got incredibly lucky. And buying those khukuris was the best purchase I ever made. I used to play rugby as a teenager (I'm 22 now) and I've been getting back in shape by practicing bushcraft skills in the woods, it's a unique way of losing weight and building muscle while also learning patience, survival skills, and respect for nature. I think I want to buy a Kumar Karda, an AK Bowie and a Tibetan sword, then I'll be done... Last time I said I'd only need a kumar karda, but as you can see the list has grown, so I've definitely caught that HIKV. ;_;
