Poll... HIKV; The Anatomy Of A Phenomena... Why It Happens?

Man! Yall are chokin me up! My new AK Bowie just made a killer pot of gumbo! Thats all I can say! And Phillls squirrel would look good in there! HI Rocks:thumbup:

When your personal finances are measured in Khukuris and not dollars...You might be infected!
When you're hanging out here on Christmas eve....You might be infected!
When you dont feel like opening your Christmas presents cause none of them are triangular...You might be infected!

Well that pretty much nails it. I'm infected. No triangle boxes under the tree.

Merry Christmas everybody.

Gonna have to agree with the two above, cept its Christmas Day and im allready looking for a DOD. Merry Christmas

Its a well run company with a good product. I've owned or handled countless brands of knives and swords and HI ranks tops in all categories, especially cost.

Well said, HUZZAH! My friends.
I guess my HIKV is that special feeling that if I have to step into the abyss at a moments notice a fist full of HI steel makes me feel good inside. :)

I've been lurking here for more than 2 years, but I never dreamed that I would ever have the money to own one of these khukuris. It took me a year to save up for a $100 khukuri from KHHI, but I always wanted a HI one. I've had it pretty rough, I've been homeless a couple of times and I'm not a very lucky person, however on a whim knowing that I had no money this Christmas I decided to buy a lottery ticket while picking up a drink from the store, and won $12,000, I've never had more than maybe 400 euros in my bank at once. I instantly bought a khukuri from here, and then a second one once I saw the Chainpuri. I'm going to be using the rest of the money to get me back into college since I dropped out last time and never thought I would be able to go back due to financial reasons and personal issues. But now I have a fantastic opportunity ahead of me. This place is more than just where we talk about khukuris, this place is like a temple to me, seeing the forumites all chipping in money to give the kami's and poor people of their villages a nice Christmas, seeing people spend a lot of time making threads to help us maintain our khukuris, giving helpful advice to newcomers etc. it's all one big family, and I couldn't be more happier now that I officially own a HI khukuri and am a part of this community. The way that Auntie Yangdu and Bill ran this company so far has been nothing if not worthy of total and absolute respect, she sent out free miniature khukuris this Christmas to people, just because, she wrote me a Christmas card that came with my khukuri, she's never sold out and has always looked to provide a great quality product at a fair price while also looking after the kami's. I feel like it's fate that I won that money, but I don't think anyone should buy lottery tickets, it's a waste of money, I just got incredibly lucky. And buying those khukuris was the best purchase I ever made. I used to play rugby as a teenager (I'm 22 now) and I've been getting back in shape by practicing bushcraft skills in the woods, it's a unique way of losing weight and building muscle while also learning patience, survival skills, and respect for nature. I think I want to buy a Kumar Karda, an AK Bowie and a Tibetan sword, then I'll be done... Last time I said I'd only need a kumar karda, but as you can see the list has grown, so I've definitely caught that HIKV. ;_;

keikuru:
Id say your on the right track brother! Health, Education, and Khukuris! I cant help but thinking there's got to be a way to inspire people to only buy products from people doing business the HI way. Where the end user gets product directly from the maker even if it is just a can opener. When I buy anything i do plenty of research on where the item comes from and who benefits from the money I spend. I just bought a potato peeler from Aranyik Thailand! Living in a federally declared disaster area has taught me the same thing goes when giving to charities. It is great to see new people here appreciating the way HI operates and learning that it can be done to benefit the entire company not just a few greedy individuals at the "top". Dont spend all your money on Khuks. I have a KK and AKB and they are great knives. You will like them. I only wish I had a Tibetan sword!

Thanks guys. :) I am taking this as a second chance to do something with my life and I've enrolled for Feb-April somewhere between there, so I'll be back in college in 2014. I took things for granted the first time around, not this time though. Thanks for the nice messages.

Keikuru - Go to school brother! Get that education, go on with your life, we'll always be here, take care of you first.

You cannot maintain HIKV, without money, cannot make money without a decent job, cannot get a decent job without an education.

You're lucky to have a 2nd chance, most people don't get a 2nd chance in a lifetime. 2nd chances almost never happen, but khukuri's will be here in your lifetime, you have the rest of your life to collect khukeris.

I almost squandered my 2nd chance away, and if it wasn't for a very special lady to pull me back just in time from the brink, I probably wouldn't be where I am today. FYI - I ended up marrying this "very special lady".

I am very happy for you, it's nice to hear good things when they happen to good people.

Thank you. :) I don't know about me being a good person or not, but I do think I've grown a lot since I was a teenager where I took everything for granted. Your wife sounds like a lovely lady! And don't worry, I'll be able to study -and- play with knives. Woohoo!

You sound a lot like I was once upon a time, in which case, you'll be just fine.

a college degree is worth much more than 12k. it is an investment in your future and the future of any family you acquire.

could not agree more with kronk,, keik you got a lucky break, capitalize on that opportunity, good luck man, we are all with you.

Thanks guys, you're all awesome. I intend to do my best this time, but even if I fail I'm going to work hard at whatever I put my mind to, even if it's just the small things. I want to graduate this time though, I know it's an amazing opportunity. I was worried that I was ranting too much but I'm glad you guys are supportive and liked to hear it, the whole situation still feels like a dream come true to me.

"I'm going to work hard at whatever I put my mind to"

This my friend is the secret to all good things in life. It's not college, not even education. College and education help put you at the front of the line to apply your hard work but they don't get you there by themselves.

During your education process do seek out common sense wherever you can find it and you will go very far indeed.

Bawanna is right....finally! Just kidding. He's a wise man. Success in life is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration. To some, life comes easily, but for the other 99% of us, you work hard to get anywhere in life. As for the notion of being wealthy, remember.....money is a good servant, but a poor master. The more money you have, the more folks that show up trying to get it from you.......the wolf is always at the door.
