The mag vs standard grip question comes up frequently.

Are you a 1, 2, or 3?

I posted the following:

There seem to be three categories:

1- Those that like standards on all blades.

2- Those that like standards on thick (> 0.3") and mags on thinner blades.

3- Those that like mags on everything.

Me? I like mags on everything: SFNO, Hell Razor, HHFSH, FBM, HOGFSH, FFBM, etc. Even the .320 FFBM/HOGFSH felt to thin for me with standards.

My grip is meaty as it extends downward from the pinky and diagonally from the thumb. There is a nice concave hollow in the center of my palm (sort of the V of that muscle group) where the mag sweet spot nestles and locks right in. I'm guessing most of those falling under #3 fit that profile. Maybe not?

If you've got more of a flat palm, but not meaty, then you might be number 1 or 2.

If you've got overall meaty hands (is that PC enough?) :p then you are probably a 1.

Not all mags are created equal: I love mags on BATACs, regardless of blade thickness, but the mags on the FBM (and FSH and ASH1, etc) aren't nearly as comfortable to me even on thinner blades. Of course, mags are great for sanding down for custom fit, so there is a silver lining in there, too.
 
I never seem to quite fit in. Must be my essential nerdness/geekdom.

I'm somewhere between choice 2 and 3 ... so I voted 2.
 
I don't know why because I have only medium hands....but I voted #3.

Must be that feeling of having a 'significant tool' in hand....sort of like an axe handle.
 
I like mags on any with a 5in blade or longer
I dislike mags on any EDC size blade

The thickness of the blade doesn't affect that for me, only the blade length....so I can't decide how to vote:confused:

Ken- YOU need to vote mags! :D I guess when I think of mags, I'm thinking palm swells... ASH, Fusion and Special Forces grips. The TAC handle grips, while technically called mags, have no palm swells. Just a tad thicker. At least, that's always the way I saw it. :o
 
Yep, your right PM, most of the EDC size have no swells, some are just thicker than others, not mags though. Some of the CS EDC slabs are fat enough to be mags, but not called such. Just called fat.

So yeah, I Love mags:thumbup:

i think im with jamie on this one.


i ordered regs for my cg ash1, but normally prefer mags. figured the really fat blade might feel pretty good with the regs.


i dont know. i like mags. i like regs.
 
After getting my first Mags recently they were an instant hit with me.I cant see myself getting anything else unless they are not an option.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:
 
Well, when it comes to Busse, get what you can when you can. Whether it's regular, Mag, G10, etc. Busse aren't readily available.

Now, as far as comfort goes, bigger grips = more comfort when chopping. Everything else is just normal use.
