Where is the option for "debt"
Perhaps the Forums should add a rehab sub-forum where we can house psychiatric assistance, financial advisors and collection liquidators. Should therapy dogs be included?

We may need huggable plush toys.

Everything I have gets used or it gets sold. I rarely buy anymore due to both financial restraint and not much out there that interests me anymore that is under $500. I don't like full Ti, I don't like thumbsstuds, and I won't buy made in China. Narrows things down a lot. I prefer CF, Micarta, or "natural" materials.

I'm not a collector, I'm a user with poor impulse control who ends up with way too many of anything I like and can afford (mainly knives and books).

I've been on a traditional kick lately, mostly because I'm working with other people on different projects and classic slipjoints are more aceptable in public.

My taste in fixed blades has always run towards traditional designs from different countries.

I still buy SAKs (my first love), multitools and modern folders. But I probably add five or six slipjoints to my collection for each one hand opening tactical.

I'm in the absolutely smallest category in the poll. I mostly collect really big knives... Of say 28 to 36 inches or more. Also the occasional pole arm, mace etc. Oh also rondel daggers. Seaxes. Khukris for a moment. They are mostly absolutely useless unless we find ourselves faced with that random zombie apocalypse. Some poor schlubs collect stamps...

That makes 2 of us.

I'm a collector but none of the poll choices apply to me. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Dumb knives that are completely unsuited for opening envelopes and stubborn food bags.

Modern traditionals.

Electrician pattern knives. These are the three (broad) categories that my accumulation falls into, with some outliers that were bought for specific purposes. The fixed blades I do have are unsuited for any kind of Serious Business because I've been trying to be realistic about some knife buying.

I had to help my wife clean out her father's house in a record-setting time, then find other places for all of my father's stuff. It started me looking at all the shiny novelties I had gathered up and chewing on the question of whether it was really the having, or just the getting.

In this case, good intentions haven't yet translated into action: I'm busy, and I'll get to it.

I'm not a "collector", per se. I am an "accumulator". I have, and am currently, accumulating a little bit of everything. Because they all interest me.
+1

What poll choice are we missing?

The choices are simply too limited in terms of the types of knives that I collect, which include some but range beyond most of the categories listed.

So, there's no point in my choosing any of them.

I've posted pics of virtually every knife that I've ever purchased here & there on BF &, if you've seen them, then you should know what I'm talking about.

But, FWIW, one category that is obviously missing is: Automatics. 🤷‍♂️

The hard limit on these polls is 10, so opening it up to endless sub-categories is not possible. Even if it were, who would want to read them? I considered that automatic knives could fit under classic folders or tactical folders, depending on the flavor of automatic that you prefer. But, I’ll add it for us.
