I've been alternating between the Buck Nighthawk clip point and the EK Commando knife with the double edge. What do you have handy, "just in case"?

Since we installed velcro in place of the rope, we found we don't need a knife by the bed.

Actually, my preference is a suitably loaded Rem. 870 and a Glock 21. As much as I like knives, a knife fight in the middle of the night with an intruder sounds awfully darn dangerous. I'd prefer just to launch a couple of well placed rounds in his/her direction and let the wet-dry vac do the hard work in the morning.

I threw out the old baseball bat, and made myself a wicked little defensive (tool), sorry I can't call it a weapon. It has a 10" double edged blade, with 4 penetrating ribs. It is firmly attached to a 28" shaft of hard Bocote wood. I call it my version of a, "Zulu War Spear" It is a heavy, tough and very formidable "tool". Check it out, on my Web-site, on the knife/price list page, its model #27. I will gladly make this wounderful tool, for any and all, that have a need for one in their home tool box.

3D cell Mag light, in red of course. Cold Steel Assegai spear, with shaft cut down to 5 ft for better maneuverability. CS shovel was formerly in its place but is now in the car. and of course Cold Steel heavy Kukri behind the bed for things that go bump in the night. occasionally Fowler FatBoy modified Tanto with 4" blade in the sock drawer next to bed. in the corner- two Kombat Industries Limited rattan 26" sticks, one inch thick and sting like all hell.

Actually, all of them. I just happen to have my "knife cabinet" is right next to my bed. That and an old-fashioned skull-cracking 40 year old bat.
