i'm glad to read that other folks besides my SO fall asleep with a knife on their person (not just on the bedside table). the first time i noticed it ("oh, WOW, hon...oh. OH. that's your KNIFE, i thought...um...."), i was a wee bit surprised. i don't know why i should have been, there's knives next to both sides of our bed, knives in our bathroom, knives in my antique chest, and several knives on each of our persons during the day--why be different at night?
mr. mattis: dreamcatchers traditionally have small symbols of things near and dear to us dangling from their webs...so hang a 'catcher up thar, and clip on one of your wee pen knives, or a wm & henry hummingbird ("drool, drool"), or a mini police....
cut those nasty bad nightmares to ribbons
next to my side: BF native. leopard cub. others as they rotate out of my backpack. plus whatever knife i am "borrowing" from the SO that day.
on his side, this week: starmate, sebbie, matriarch, large afck, um...not sure what else right now. oh, big major maglite. i have one too. amd clipped to his nightwear: his wonderful Christmas present from his astoundingly wise, amazingly beautiful, and stunningly humble partner: a green synergy

who sleeps on her side, so nowhere comfy to clip a folder at night...but an ankle holster...hm...nah, my cats sleep on my feet, it would just make 'em all cranky and then NO ONE would get any sleep...
