Poltova vs Venev

I’m hoping someone here can help me out , I got some Venev Phoenix stones 400/800 and 1200/2000 I thaught they would be the red and yellow color I’m used to from the 1x6 centuar set but they looked dark I was told they haven’t been lapped ever and haven’t been used in years so I assumed after a lapping they would brighten up but no they didn’t lol I did a one step 600 SIC powder then a conditioning stone the 400/800 came out feeling good still a dark grey and brown color on both but 1200/2000 feels off to the touch it’s rougher than the 400/800 and leaves scratches so I’m hoping someone may know why they are different color. Maybe is there a way to make sure there’s no sic powder left over that I don’t know of btw I also got a set of shapton seven stones and dmd stones that are all perfect after lapping so idk I’m just hoping they can get to the point of working the way the venev with the brighter colors work I have photos but idk how to add them

Venev has experimented over the years with different pigments, the color doesn't really correlate with grit at all as it has changed over time.
