I have seen several knives with a stag and a pommel made out of damascus.
How is the pommel attached to the handle?

I dont see any pins and with a curved crown stag I dont think it is attached to a tang or is the tang curved to match the stag?

I know this probably has a simple answer, but I have never done it and I have a bowie I am working on now (not usually my style). I have a piece of damascus left from a forging that is about 1 1/4 square and I hate to not use it for something. Anyway thanks for the help.

As far as I know, which is not a ton, is that the stag handle has a hole drilled in it, with the hidden tang running through, and the end of the tang is threaded, and the pommel is tapped, so then you can screw the pommel onto the hidden tang.

The tang would be bent to fit the stag. Drill holes from each end and clean out the center of the stag real good. You could tap the end cap or "hard" solder a nut to it.
Good luck!

I always tap a hole most of the way but not all the way through the pommel cap so that it will tread onto the tang. I like to do this because it pulls everything together tight, and I can make sure all my joints are perfect before I epoxy the handle. Sometimes, but not always, I will add a small off-center pin to help keep the pommel cap from twisting off.
