I say keep it. I like little "imperfections" like the above, even for collectibles. Reminds me it was lovingly built by hand and gives it some character. No one else is likely to have a blade just like yours.

I disagree with you I have quite a few Spyderco functionally great knives, which are aesthetically-perfect as well. I do not see any reason to settle for less, especially when we are talking about $100+ tool.
 
I doubt Spyderco would replace it. It doesn't effect function or safety and isn't a defect. If you haven't used it at all and don't like it send it back to the store you bought it from. If you have used it then use it and you probably won't notice it in a couple weeks.
 
I have to agree with those above that say it isn't that big of a deal if it is a user.
 
I had to look a few times to understand the problem.
From the title of "poor finish" I was expecting more.
Seems ironic to buy a big tough knife meant for hard use and make a big deal about a slight imperfection, but hey to each their own.
Everyone has their own pet peeves and notions of right and wrong, and ideas of what is acceptable and unacceptable. What is right and wrong. If it bugs you get rid of it.
 
Thanks for all the replies. I've been a huge fan of Spyderco, and haven't found any finishes less than perfect on my others.

Bought from online, spoke with vendor, sent pics, they picked by hand a perfect one, and are sending as soon as my current one arrives.

What are you complaining about somebody ground off most of the jimping off and flame treated the clip on the one I got. You don't have much to complain about.:D;)

I can't believe Spyderco would send out a Manix 2 Xl that looks more like the orginal Manix than the new version.
 
This is why its critically important to buy from a reputable vendor that stands by its wares. Please tell us who they are.

it's simple, if you are unhappy with your knife, that's what customer service is for (both the retailer's and/or spyderco's).

BladeHQ, had never ordered from them before. They covered return shipping, and shipping back to me. Anna is great to work with, she gave great CS.

BladeHQ is the jam. I ordered a BM Rescue Hook for my wife from Amazon and they totally bungled it. I returned it and bought the correct one from BladeHQ. BHQ shipped it fast and free. Good stuff.
 
Got the new Manix XL that BladeHQ sent as a replacement, and it's perfect! I can't say enough about them, really great CS.

Much sharper than the first one also.

I think I'm in love. It's so different than the Manix2, that I'll have a hard time choosing. For now, they are a pretty smooth combo.
