So, there was this thread, and people jump in supporting KaBar, and some didn't.

Then the thread was locked.

KaBar decided that EVERYONE in the thread, from the OP, to the supportive to the nay sayers... if you said something...

you got a knife, positive or negative.

now how's that for community oriented involvement!

course, it's nice and thoughtful of those who did get that knife to say "thank you KaBar"...

so, "thank you KaBar" :D

and since it was convenient, got some other swag (much like Guyon, and likely Moose)...

the 1117 is mine :>

but some of those BK14 seconds, swap points? bribes? maybe some local action? BF/Becker Aligned GeoCache drop? who knows!

and yar, will be beating up a Zomstro for sure. we'll see how that baby chops!

thanks!

Seriously, WHO ELSE DOES THAT?

"Oh we are sorry, we will correct the issue, and thank you for the support.... and by the way KNIVES FOR EVERYONE...."----KA-BAR lol

I have always been a KA-BAR fan because, I like the steel, I like the price, I like the quality, pretty much their entire line has value and performance in mind, and they work well!... but for a knife company... or any company for that matter to just come straight out and break their backs pretty much to make everyone happy... even those who are already happy... That is pretty sweet. Not to mention that KA-BAR has a history of giving out massive amounts of swag just because they can... Go KA-BAR.

KA-BAR, yall deserved a thank you long before, just for making amazing blades. There are very few companies in my opinion that I feel motivated to say thank you to just because they make a product that I love, and my kids will love... and my kids kids... and probably my kids, kids, kids... A KA-BAR is on my hip and with me every day, and that is a good feeling.

*(Just to bolster everything, I have a KA-BAR stockman that I received after my Grandpa passed. I got it when I was 7. It was one of his EDCs He got me into knives. That blade got me into KA-BARs. That knife is dated before my mom was born. It will one day be one of my kids blade and it will probably live to see many other generations.)

Got mine in yesterday but haven't had a chance to snag pics yet. That aside, thanks KA-BAR for proving yet again that you are a stand up company that puts its customers first! Poor customer service? Not even close.

I posted a Thanks to Kabar in direct response to that thread after it got closed. Because the thread pissed me off.

THANKS again KA-BAR for looking out!!

Thanks KA-BAR!!!

Wow those are cool blades! I might have to just buy one cause I missed the thread for the free one! Haha I agree though, great customer service!

Kabars have been carried by every generation of my family since WW2. Philippines, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq... I've always been a huge fan and really love that they joined up with Becker. I own 9 various Kabar knives and they're all users. I'm sure my collection is minor compared to the rest of you. Saw this new knife on their facebook page and emailed customer service through the Kabar website to ask about it. Got a quick, but cold and unfriendly reply. Kind of left me feeling a little dejected. We all have bad days and if I worked behind a computer answering emails I'd probably be grumpy too. Customer service is tough. I'm certainly not cut out for it. Yet even for those who are understanding, a bad experience can affect brand loyalty. Especially when there is some really good competition out there. I was getting ready to order a new knife and that made me hesitant. A few hours later, I ordered it anyway (albeit with less excitement). Everyone is entitled to an off moment right?

The new Kabar looks sweet. A remake of the impact series? Wondering how it performs compared the the BK17 (my personal favorite).

Anytime I have a question about knives, I come here. I have yet to email any knife company about anything related to their products because I know what to expect here. Anyway, Ka-bar has great customer service, and they make a great product, as you well know. So, you may not feel all warm and fuzzy about the decision right now, but I'm sure that will change once the mail comes :D

By the way...with 9 KBs, your collection is not minor by any means.....and shows you have some brand loyalty.......and you have more than me ;)

Why do I always miss it when all the good stuff happens?lol. I'm on here every night it seems,
yet I miss all the good stuff. Last few days this has become The Knife in my mind and I
can't even find one to buy. Good grief.... grrrrr

Very nice gesture by Ka-Bar! I like the look of this blade. Can anyone tell me the specs? Blade length & OAL?

Edit: found the answer in the Toooj thread:
"The knife is the #1117.

It is a small neck knife with a GRN sheath (that will dull the blade )
The knife is 7-7/8" long and 2.3oz. The entire package weighs 3.5 oz.
Material: 1095 CV, Black epoxy powder coat."

Too big to be carried as a neck knife for me, but looking good.

so far the knife is doing a tasty job in my kitchen prepping food - thumbs up!

I agree, but I'm not into neck knives anyway. Really like the blade. Once I get some comfortable handles worked up I'm gonna love this knife. The sheath will fit the TDI belt clip. Hole alignment isn't perfect, but it's doable. Will require a trip to the hardware store for some different fasteners. Wonder if KaBar will tweak that for final production. I'm gonna make a drop backing with retention strap, but I'm sure some folks would like the TDI clip option.

So how many times can you use the warranty for a particular knife or provided replacement before they decide you're doing something wrong and cut you off?
