Poor man's quick and dirty 99 cent harpoon

You could make a harpoon out of a wire shirt hanger -- sharpen the tip and cut and peel 1-3 barbs out of the shaft. I remember seeing some fishermen in Washington state carrying these when I was very young. I wonder if it would be possible to harden something like this.

......The Mobley replacement tines are a little lighter than I had in mind, but will sure fit in a kit nice. I think wrapping two on a stick would work pretty well.

I ordered some of the replacement tines and they showed up today. That is all I really need for my PSK. If I take a stick and cut grooves to help stabilize the tines and then wrap them with paracord, it will work fine for frogs, fish and small game. A couple worm gear stainless hose clamps would hold a pair of tines to a stick too. The tines are light and comact and will stash well in a kit.

I have a nice 4 prong gig, and I love it! And on the frog gigging subject, you can also tie some red yard, or such on a small wire hook, and catch 'em like a fish too. Mmmmm frog legs be goooood!!
